/// Notes from meetings between UK and Nigerian officials, obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, also suggest that Nigeria shunned international offers to rescue the girls. While Nigeria welcomed an aid package and assistance from the US, the UK and France in looking for the girls, it viewed any action to be taken against kidnapping as a “national issue”. ///

Why did the Nigerian Government have no wish for any direct action to be taken by the UK, the US and France, which could have resulted in the rescue of these girls?

Perhaps as always it is only our ready cash that they are interested in?

For the same reason that the UK would refuse offers of foreign military police/intervention within the UK - and would likely regard it as arrogance to have the decision seen as an error. Additionally, the British military was a colonial occupation force within living memory, "heroes" on the UK's eyes , not so in the colonies.
that should be "military/police intervention".......

Better then not to offer them any help whatsoever if that is what they think of us.

...........up to five hours in unarmed hot surveillance/pursuit of international criminals crossing the border..........add prompt handover to the locals.........reciprocal..........

Not quite the same as was "offered" is it ?
Because they care more for avoiding embarrassment than they do for rescuing the victims ?
Reckon you have it there OG.

//For the same reason that the UK would refuse offers of foreign //

Well no. The Nigerian military/Police are well behind France/US/UK might, training and knowledge. So totally different, we could have a lot to offer them it is unlikley any countries would be able to offer any of the three over and above what they have already.
