Seriously though he said 'probably' and byelecton' So unless the Tories are found guilty of something (and to date there is nothing proven) he wont be standing. Wherever Lord Farage stands the establishment will close ranks on him to keep him out. It has become quite comical.
Peronally I have always adopted the approach of never say never.
YMB.....if the Tories are found guilty of Election spending irregularities, and its looks very bad for them at this moment in time, than it would be only fair that the By-Election be re-run.
If Farage were to win that second election, than so be it !
I like how the question glosses over the more important bigger picture:
1. The Conservatives may have cheated in the General election.
2. £38,000 of expenses undeclared
3. The police being given another year to investigate this "far-reaching" matter.
Gromit....it wasn't only Thanet South. The Police ave investigated many constituencies, at least 29, where fraud may have taken place, and they are all Tory. The evidence is starting to look overwhelming.
We are not talking one possible by-election here. The undeclared expenses associated with the Battle Bus are in at lear 17 constituencies.
IF the Conservatives are found guilty of the allegations, then we would have a mini General Election, mid term in 17 re-runs.
As the Government have only 17 majority in Parliament, we only need to see 9 seats change hands for the Government to be in a minority.
Gromit....and that is why there are sleepless nights in Number Ten. To go back to Thanet South, UKIP came a very close second to the Tories.
Right across the West Country, marginal seats were won by the Tories, which seemed a little odd at the time. If this fraud is proven, than, as you say, it could be very damaging for Mrs May and her slim majority.
Why would it be sleepless nights, it will give her the perfect excuse should Brexit not happen - She will blame labour, then see what happens to Labour at the next General election! And if UKIP got in then they could form a formidable opposition but one that would not side with Jezza.
So nothing really to get exited about.
And anyway who realy thinks Plod will come up with much and if they do it will be watered down to nothing.
I don't know which constituencies are involved but if they are in the West Country there were very few Labour seats. Currently there is only one. The gains must have been from the Libs and I find nothing remotely odd about that.
