The idea of a maximum wage was in the Green's manifesto in 2015 where they said the highest earner in a company should earn no more than 10 times the lowest earner.
This was a stupid idea, imbecilic in fact, but it didn't matter because the Green's could state anything they wanted, safe in the knowledge they would never have an opportunity to implement their more moronic ideas.
Corbyn is not so stupid as to suggest a 10 times cap - but the question has to be asked as to what the hell does the level of somebody's salary have to do with any Government? If somebody is earning a million per annum, and the bog cleaner in the organization is on minimum wage - well so what? The person earning the million has got to that position through intelligence, skill and hardwork, and so probably has the cleaner. The person earning a million will be paying a vast amount in tax, whereas the cleaner will not.
This is a stupid stupid idea, and if it were ever implemented, we would see our most talented people flock from the country.
This is gesture politics of the worst kind used to send a message to the low paid that he's on their side and he's going to screw the highest earners, because how dare they make a success of their lives.
Fortunately, its entirely irrelevant, because the country is not stupid enough to return a Labour Government with Corbyn at the helm.

I can't find UK figures, but in the USA after the war, the CEO made 20 times as much as shopfloor workers. By 2013 this had ballooned to 204 times as much, up about 1000%. I wonder how many of those greedy bosses actually earned that money?
