AOG, have you forgotten that it was your own beloved DM which described them as right wing activists? Maybe your beef should be with them rather than AB members?
423 in the capital at the last count. what can one do but protest peacefully, send letters to the council, government..

When the property next door to my childhood home was planned to turn into a temple, my Mother along with other residents protested via the correct channels to get the plans stopped.

I must add that much to my horror she also wrote a quite vitriolic letter to the local paper, I waited for a visit from someone in authority but it never came.

No protests or strange actions were taken and the planning went through, nothing was as bad as feared and the visitors were no more troublesome than when the property was used as a Methodist church.

The main differences were the difference in sounds emanating through the wall, livelier music and the smells from the back kitchen were brilliant.

So object , yes but through the correct channels.

/// Do you think the actions taken by the objectors are normal? ///

If they get the result that they are seeking, then yes.

The Islamic supporters don't seem to have any objections against the Muslims erecting a statement of their faith, but take strong objection to Christians erecting a statement of their faith.
that link was just in London btw.
Will you be desisting in posting DM headlines AOG, seeing as you think they are Islamic apologists?
there are over a 1,000 churches in the capital, no protests there, as one can see.
ANOTHEOLDGIT, if the protestors had burnt down the mosque after it had been completed, would that have been normal since it would have got the result they wanted?

THECORBYLOON

/// ANOTHEOLDGIT, if you had objections to a building would you support the raising of huge crosses in protest or would you perhaps have sent a few letters to the local planning department? ///

Have you any proof that the protesters have not already gone down that road, found as usual for it to be of no use whatsoever and have therefore decided to take more decisive action.
But it isn't decisive action. As per my post yesterday, it's had zero effect on the building of the mosque.
ANOTHEOLGIT Since it's unlikely the protestors' names are known, I doubt anyone could say one way or the other
A little further research reveals that:

'The building application is to be submitted to the municipal administration in the coming weeks, according to the local MDR news outlet.'

So they haven't had chance to object formally.

/// AOG, have you forgotten that it was your own beloved DM which described them as right wing activists? ///

They are not my beloved Daily Mail, I just mainly choose certain news items from their journal to put up for debate and discussion, and since those items seem to be the more popular on AnswerBank, I will continue to do so.

/// Maybe your beef should be with them rather than AB members? ///

I had no beef against any AB members whatsoever when I chose this story, it was those who had a beef against me for daring to enter such a thread.
AOG

You asked why the Daily Mail described the protesters as right wing extremists.

Do you disagree with the Mail's description, and if so - why?

And why is it insulting to be described as 'right wing extremist'?

Is it the right wing bit, or the extremist bit?
They're only 'popular' because of your very odd spin on the majority of them combined with your stubbornness to see anyone else's viewpoint. Personally I find your adherence to your own off-kilter viewpoints which several ABers have given reasoned arguments against, quite amusing.

This one for instance seems to have been solely engineered to enable you to label anyone with a different viewpoint 'Islamic apologists'.

All quite amusing.
"They are not my beloved Daily Mail"

It most certainly is!

You rush to its defence the same way a parent would, if you called their baby ugly.
From ZACS' link, "Whoever uses the cross to [protest] other thinking or other faiths misuses this Christian symbol. The [action] has nothing to do with the Christian message of charity and even love.“Our basic law is clear here: religious communities have the right to freely exercise their religion, and this right is also true when religion is expressed in architecture. We as Christian Churches welcome the mosque construction in Erfurt. Those who question the freedom of religion should ask themselves whether they act within the precepts of our basic law,” the Evangelical Church of Middle Germany and the Catholic Diocese of Erfurt said in a joint statement issued earlier this week."

Yep...I saw that one coming too.

May I remind you that we are a Christian country.

Do you happen to have the figures for the number of Mosques in Riyadh also the number of Christian churches?
I don't think AOG realises that we see thru to his motives virtually from the outset.
