jno, a necessity – and a sensible one. I have no problem with it. Emmie, Unless a lot of lights go on in a lot of brains, I don’t think we will fight it. If that doesn’t happen, when push comes to shove the liberals who fundamentall y dictate the way in which the rest of us should behave, will call it ‘ democracy’ and roll over and accept it, all the while...

we will still be a part of Europe in many ways, for trade for example, so with countries like Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece having taken in so many refugees can you not see that many won't necessarily get their homes, jobs, education so that can lead to unrest. Look what is happening in France, one terror attack after another, and more on the way for us.
"Will Europe One Day Have To Fight A War" - Not Europe, the civilised world will eventually have to deal with this cancer. It gets worse every day, eventually even the Liberals will realise it and by then, like WWII it will be so much worse than it needed to be. When you have a group that thinks it must impose the will of it's imaginary friend against all others you have a festering problem.

Europe already engaged in a war on terror.
As has already been said earlier - it didn't go well.
If Europe were to engage in another war, would this be one where troops were sent to the Middle East, or would this be an internal one, based on the European continent?
And how would the war end? As Islam has no national boundaries - who would we fight, and who would surrender?

TTT, yes, but see my last post on the previous page. There are plenty of Brits who just don't like Europeans and wouldn't necessarily want to run to their aid. (Has anyone on AB ever spoken in support of an EU army?) And indeed many Europeans who wouldn't be interested in helping Britain. So who is the "Europe" in the OP?

Our problems are compounded by the fact that economically we absolutely have no choice but to continually engage in conflict in the Middle East.
Our energy security relies on stability in the region, which is why we arm and train on faction to win against another.
A destabilised Middle East means higher (MUCH higher) oil prices.
Higher oil prices will directly lead to higher transport costs, higher manufacturing costs and higher prices on the high street.
Just think of how much we depend on oil...not just for energy, but in the production of plastics.
I don't know if you're old enough to remember what happened when the OPEC nations ramped up the price of a barrel of oil back in (I think 1972), but it crippled us.
Multiply that by ten, and we're talking about an economic horror show.
