against many of the adherents who want to do us harm, Islam -
seeing as how Islamic terrorism is not just a one off.

jno, a necessity – and a sensible one. I have no problem with it. Emmie, Unless a lot of lights go on in a lot of brains, I don’t think we will fight it. If that doesn’t happen, when push comes to shove the liberals who fundamentally dictate the way in which the rest of us should behave, will call it ‘democracy’ and roll over and accept it, all the while...

/// Perhaps we try passing laws that made all British Muslims wear a yellow crescent moon on their outer clothing ? ///

They are perfectly easy recognisable without the need for badges.

this isn't just to do with yesterday, as bad as that was. i see lots of segregation around me and wonder why that is.
Segregation is quite another thing Emmie. Yes, it disturbs me as well.
Question Author
living in the capital you see more of the divisions than perhaps many places, or like Birmingham, & Rotherham, where they have a high proportion of Asian peoples.
//They are perfectly easy recognisable without the need for badges. //

Well obviously not as some of you named the wrong person yesterday!!

we will still be a part of Europe in many ways, for trade for example, so with countries like Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece having taken in so many refugees can you not see that many won't necessarily get their homes, jobs, education so that can lead to unrest. Look what is happening in France, one terror attack after another, and more on the way for us.
Emmie...we have only to look at NI to see the damage that is done to communities by segregation. I am not sure what the answer is but I strongly suspect that both sides need to do more to understand each other.
"Will Europe One Day Have To Fight A War" - Not Europe, the civilised world will eventually have to deal with this cancer. It gets worse every day, eventually even the Liberals will realise it and by then, like WWII it will be so much worse than it needed to be. When you have a group that thinks it must impose the will of it's imaginary friend against all others you have a festering problem.

Just answer this mikey, if the radical Muslims became a big enough threat to us here in the UK, so much so that we had to take deliberate war like action against them here on UK soil, on who's side do you think the so called moderate Muslims would take?

Ours or theirs will be good enough.

jno: "who is "Europe", the body Britain is about to leave? " - no we are leaving the EU not Europe.
emmie

Europe already engaged in a war on terror.

As has already been said earlier - it didn't go well.

If Europe were to engage in another war, would this be one where troops were sent to the Middle East, or would this be an internal one, based on the European continent?

And how would the war end? As Islam has no national boundaries - who would we fight, and who would surrender?

Question Author
even if had never intervened in Syria, Iraq, there is much infighting between Muslims, which still affects us indirectly.

it seems to me we do have a problem and one we can't duck the issue.
TTT, yes, but see my last post on the previous page. There are plenty of Brits who just don't like Europeans and wouldn't necessarily want to run to their aid. (Has anyone on AB ever spoken in support of an EU army?) And indeed many Europeans who wouldn't be interested in helping Britain. So who is the "Europe" in the OP?
Question Author
sp, internally,
i don't want this to happen but i see major problems ahead with this particular religion.
Perhaps we should have rounded up all the catholics when the IRA bombing campaign was at its height... just in case, you know.
AOG...that would depend on what kind of "war-like action " you are contemplating. Our security forces seem to be doing a fair job of preventing most terrorists attacks so far.
Question Author
i could have said Britain, but i deliberately chose Europe because France, Belgium, Britain are tangling with terrorists
emmie, yes, but my question is whether "Europeans" would actually join together in a fight?
emmie

Our problems are compounded by the fact that economically we absolutely have no choice but to continually engage in conflict in the Middle East.

Our energy security relies on stability in the region, which is why we arm and train on faction to win against another.

A destabilised Middle East means higher (MUCH higher) oil prices.

Higher oil prices will directly lead to higher transport costs, higher manufacturing costs and higher prices on the high street.

Just think of how much we depend on oil...not just for energy, but in the production of plastics.

I don't know if you're old enough to remember what happened when the OPEC nations ramped up the price of a barrel of oil back in (I think 1972), but it crippled us.

Multiply that by ten, and we're talking about an economic horror show.
