But back to AOG's question. It would appear that the BBC are trying to tick another diversity box with Eastenders:

The question should be asked why do we need more elderly people on television? Surely with their over-representation on Countryfile, The Real Marigold Hotel, New Tricks, Antiques Roadshow, Marple and whatever cobblers David Jason is foisting on the nation, we have enough elderly people on our screens?

Not only the BBC, it seems that ITV are catching this diversity bug.

Last nights Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway rubbish, they picked three different unsuspecting viewing families, and surprise, surprise, one was white, one was black and one was Asian (not Chinese of course).

Blimey SP, Eastenders is diverse enough already, and some of them have got to become old as we all do, or is it just white old persons you are moaning about?

Just as a side question, I wonder if diversity is practised in places such as the Caribbean, India or Africa?
Do you watch Ant and Dec each weekend when they're on, Anotheoldgit?
AOG - you have no need to worry about this character's impact - she's toast already.

The BBC have announced that when Peter Capaldi leaves, the new Doctor will have a new companion, so this lady is out of work even before her first appearance is aired.

As you were ...
That's showbiz. :)
"Wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff"
from Red Dwarf...

The Cat: [to Rimmer] What *is* it?
Rimmer: It's a rent in the space-time continuum.
The Cat: [to Lister] What *is* it?
Lister: The stasis room freezes time, you know, makes time stand still. So whenever you have a leak, it must preserve whatever it's leaked into, and it's leaked into this room.
The Cat: [to Rimmer] What *is* it?
Rimmer: It's singularity, a point in the Universe where the normal laws of space and time don't apply.
The Cat: [to Lister] What *is* it?
Lister: It's a hole back into the past.
The Cat: Oh, a magic door! Well, why didn't you say?
so what is it?
It's not funny, that's what it is.

it will be interesting to see if the diversity theme persists into the selection of the new doctor - Idris Elba as a transgender doctor anyone?
Idris as yummy as he is is not Dr Who material.
Gosh Mushroom, where DO you get your ideas from?

Oh, I know, 10:02 on Saturday last, this article. :)
