Yes but does that warrant him being on the wrong end of threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour? "Jail? Way over the top." Really? "At the time of the incident, she was subject to a suspended sentence for a string of previous convictions for robbery, thefts and assault." So not excessive at all. Especially when you consider she will be released on...

I agree totally that she got exactly what she deserved. I have not defended her actions. I merely pointed out that he is a smarmy whiney voiced person who I can understand people losing their tempers with...... anyway good morning to you, the sun is shining and that always makes a person feel more cheerful..!
Your view of Mr Vine may be justifies, Mal (I couldn't say as I don't know who he is). But did this odious creature even know who he was when she launched into him? Did she think "That old sod has just cut me up. I'd normally let it go but I see it's Jeremy Vine so I'll let him have some"?
Vine is a robust character well able to deal with such vile outbursts. That is his good fortune - she could have laid in to a far more vulnerable person who could have suffered all sorts of psychological trauma. I'm glad she's in prison
Jeremy Vine admitted to riding down the middle of the road to" avoid the cars parked either side", so I think he instigated the quarrel. If he hadn't taken the attitude of a great number of cyclist's that they own the road, the altercation wouldn't have taken place.
Correct result ...
Vulcanised, that's what cyclists are supposed to do in case a car door opens on them
Car owners don't own the road either!
For every cycling 'lycra lout' there are many hundreds of inconsiderate and impatient car drivers, who won't give cyclists their fair share of the road.

There are a couple of (otherwise apparently sane) friends of mine who behave so poorly around cyclists that I will no longer travel in a car with them as a driver.

Both are female (not AB members) and have never cycled themselves - I wonder if that is often the case with car drivers who have shockingly poor awareness of cyclists, and indeed motor-cyclists?
Hope he doesn't ride his bike anywhere near his swingometer otherwise we find that going to prison.
