I would lay good money on the Sun sacking Kelvin MacKenzie within the next few weeks.

Do you think he deserves it? Is he toxic, or can he ride this one through?

AOG - //It was never a headline in the Sun or any other newspaper if it comes to that, it came out as answer to a question, in a conversion between two people. //

I don't dispute your point with rergard to the Corbyn comments, which is really a non-issue.

The OP queried whether or not Mr MacKenzie is going to be sacked from the column - my responses centre on the issue over which he has been suspended, and that may well lead to his dismissal, unless he offers an appropriate apology.
Regarding the so called by some, 'the racist abuse of a professional footballer'.

He made a remark about a certain professional footballer, which if aimed at any other player would have been 'non reportable' it just happened that, that particular footballer's GRANDFATHER happened to be black.

How the heck is anybody supposed to know that, should a person's family tree be scrutinised before one makes a comment regarding them, just in case there happens to be a none white person in the family?
Most of his career has lurched from one controversy to the next - whether he survives this and is reinstated depends on how much revenue he raises with the tripe he spouts.

I think the supposed ethnicity slur is simple mixing by other media - I don't think for one moment that Mr MacKenzie intended his reference to Mr Barkley to be racist.

No, I think just referring to a professional footballer as 'thick' and the look in his eyes as being that of a gorilla in a cage, and that large wage packets in Liverpool were held only by drug dealers - that was enough to get him suspended.

So I would entirely agree that trying to conjure up a racism charge from this situation is simply making mischief, but that is not why Mr Mackenzie was suspended - it was his comments about Liverpool as a city, given that he has form with that populace, that got him side-lined.
/// So I would entirely agree that trying to conjure up a racism charge from this situation is simply making mischief, ///

So why did you need to say this then, or was that just making mischief?

/// he has been suspended from his column for comments which he did write, and which were printed, which amounted to racist abuse of a professional footballer. ///
AOG - I posted that before I had checked into the details of the situation.

I stand corrected - I don't make mischief.
