Ched Evans is morally reprehensible.

However, as he has been exonerated of rape, I am pleased that he is able to resume his career at his former club.

The law is innocent until proved guilty, and if proved guilty will then become innocent on appeal or retrial if found not guilty. In that case regardless of what you think of him he is as innocent as you or I under the law if we have no record so can't and shouldn't be treated any different or that is actually illegal discrimination.

Many celebrities had their lives wrecked by operation Yewtree as the media published their names and then were either found not guilty or not tried at all. There is a serious fault with the law here and unless changed could ruin someone's life with no recompense whatsoever.

What I do know is a matter of public record - the way in which Evans behaved on that night is not in dispute - it is merely the legal facts of the case that were argued about in court.

I can only speak as I find, and as I pointed out earlier, if one of my girls was linked to a man who behaved like that, it would be her choice if she stayed with him or not - and I would support her in that choice.

But that would not extend to offering moral or legal support to the man in question.

So I don't need to know the people personally in order to form an opinion - and that is all I am offering, an opinion, which should not be confused with the idea that I am offering a moral judgement - I am not qualified to do that.

As I have argued throughout the case when it was ongoing, and still stand by now as my point of view - I am not disputing that Evans is innocent in the legal sense, but I don't think anyone can use the expression 'innocent' to describe his behaviour which led up to his course case.

That is a poor comparison.

Not only was Evans charged, he was in fact convicted, and then had his conviction quashed on appeal - so comparisons with people who were not charged at all is not valid.

AH, the character of someone is the sum of their moral qualities. If you bring into question their character, which you did, then without doubt your are making a moral judgement on their characters. A judgement, in case you didn't know, is an opinion formed.

As stated, I do not feel I am in a position morally to judge the actions of Evans' partner and her father - his actions are far more easily judged because his actions are a matter of public record.
