Disgusting behaviour
So, if the driving ban appears to be concurrent with the jail sentence, (sorry for my previous spelling error), I understand that existing rules allow for release from prison once half of the sentence is served. If that is the case then the driving ban would appear to be enforceable for three years?
Thank goodness for CCTV,
Talbot, has that actually been implemented now?
I still can't see why this is not attempted murder, she deliberately drove at the guy using the car as a weapon.
As I said @ 9:16

I can't find anything that says the rules have actually been changed.
ok so the ban will run concurrent.
I agree TTT, rediculously short sentence.

And she should never be allowed behind the wheel of a car EVER.
Sorry Mickey, for others 'Up the Gut' means got pregnant.
It has not been changed. A guy near me was jailed for 6 months for a driving offence and banned for 3 years. The ban started as soon as he was sentenced. That was just a few months ago, he is out now and telling people he served part of the ban while he was inside.
The problem with the ban only starting when an offender is released from prison is that someone would have to keep records of which prisoners had driving bans and of when they were due to be released so that they could inform the DVLA. The prison service would not want to do it as they have more work than they can cope with anyway. You could not rely on the prisoner reporting himself so that the ban could start. A one year sentence means automatic release at 6 months with up to 4 months served at home on 'Tag'.So a one year sentence can be only 2 months in jail!
TTT, you'd have trouble proving intent to murder rather than cause gbh or similar. If she'd been caught on camera screaming "I'm going to kill you" or something like that, maybe.
fair enough eddie, I suspect the magistrates take account of the sentence in their ban in cases where they can, like this woman was banned for 4.5 years, in effect a 3 year ban because they assume she will serve half of the the 3 year sentence.
Nothing unusual in this, a person mows down a person riding a bike and almost kills him, gets a jail sentence and quite rightly so.
What a horrid woman. Well done Judge.
I think she's got away rather lightly but good she's off the road for a while, horrible.
I think she should have got longer.

ymb...in my neck of the woods it used to be called up the duff !
aog, I'd like to think that most cyclists injured on the road are injured by accident. You say there's nothing unusual in this, but it was deliberate, so yes, it is 'unusual'.
So if you're banned for 2 years and jailed for three then as soon as you're released you can drive. What's the logic in that?
