Actually it could be more pragmatic than that too. The SNP is confined to Scotland by definition, and Labour doesn't really seem to be going anywhere at the moment except backwards; so that leaves us with no effective opposition. Stands to reason that we should search for a party that *could* stand in opposition to the Tories.
The Lib Dems are probably not that party. But they're about the only other plausible candidate at the moment.

Some interesting betting odds on the election here.

Every time this Farron guy opens his mouth he seems to find a way to fall further in my opinion, which I had no idea before but seems to be bottomless. Leastways I've not heard the splash/thud yet.
He needs to get real. His favoured side lost the referendum, we are to exit without some poor loser trying to stop it, and it is one of the, if not the, most important items on the agenda meanwhile.
How any party could tolerate one such as he leading and speaking for them is quite beyond me. A total embarrassment. The Liberals must have no sense of pride nor hope for their future as a respected party.

I will almost certainly vote Lib Dem. I live in a Labour-Lib Dem swing seat, as our former MP (before 2015) was Liberal and was then replaced by a Labour one. The old MP did a bunch of really excellent stuff for my constituency - he got the competition commission involved in breaking up a deal that would've been bad for my town, he secured more funding for schools in the area, and in general you often see him around living his life here. He's approachable, intelligent, and dedicated to the community.
Unfortunately his Labour replacement has been completely crap. He's done absolutely nothing since the last election and is a general nonentity who doesn't seem to care about the area at all. He's also making no effort to win the seat even though his majority is tiny, which smacks of total arrogance to me. Much as I'd prefer Labour to win the election, unfortunately I just can't really donate them my vote when their candidate here is so bad.
