The torys have said what will happen when they are elected so when elected they can rightly say what we said is what we will do ,by your vote you have told us to go ahead and do it . is that right ?
No. Circumstances change and everything is just aims/goals. Once in they have a mandate to do whatever the house lets them get away with, because they're in charge. If they do everything they said they would then that's something of a bonus, although few are likely to approve of everything the government wants.
Situations change and they may need to change to keep up.
However that is basically what any party, MP or government say. All the political party manifestos are 'this is what we want to do, vote for us and we'll do it'.
What it is really is "This is what we say we shall do so that you will vote for us" (or in the case of Jeremy Corbyn, "so you wouldn't vote for us even if we were the sole candidates").
if you want income tax rises, and old age pensions not to be protected properly, and you also want hunting wild animals with dogs to come back.....vote Tory.
Vote Tory....it will do exactly what it says on the can.
My parents are 73 and 78 and they are voting Tory because they know Labour are an economic basket case and will give away the family silver for a pittance, will attempt to tie our hands behind our backs when negotiating... well anything really.
They have lived through Labour governments and seen what a hash they have made of it.
They see and understand a lot more of how the real world works than champagne socialists and those too blinkered to see ever will.
They create and maintain the Me Me Me society. They create such dependency that the state HAS to provide for anyone with their hand stretched out regardless of need.
No party on the far left or far right will be any good for the country. Uncontrolled capitalism will fail as surely as uncontrolled socialism.
Sometimes I find other people's view rather strange. The right are all for grabbing what you can for yourself, the left are for sharing responsibility and costs in society, yet the opinion is expressed that the Labour party is the one worthy of the "me me me" label. It's a strange world.
Well OG I often have the same thought about the other way.
But that's politics.
MY glass of milk is up to the half way mark and is half full. For some it is half empty and must be filled to the top and overflowing by everyone else.
I've never understood why people think any pary can predict the next 5 years. It is said a week in Parliament is a long time - and it certainly is. Without the proverbial crystal ball is is impossible to predict World events that can and will alter the direction a Government should take. In fact problems often occur because Government try to stick doggedly to their manifesto due to the howls of 'U-Turn' from some who are unable to think past the end of their nose.
