// Every criminal violates the human rights of their victim in some way so that access should be withdrawn for them.//

erm yeah that is why they are in prison
that is their right to liberty has been curtailed - after due process

so all THAT means is that they have been treated according to the law - this moronic thread concerns a set of people who AREN'T treated according to principles

and the more serious the crime ( and er terrorism sounz pretty serious to me) the more important that legal principles are followed and not ignored

( a bit long - sozza - I like OG's argument)
"Every criminal violates the human rights of their victim in some way so that access should be withdrawn for them."

What about those who are subsequently found to be innocent?
Sadly AnswerBank seems to be losing members at a rapid rate. I think many are put off by teh news thread being dominated by similar questions, usually non-sequiteurs like this.
You are right FF ... what we need is more Bliss and See How Far This Goes.

Anything controversial should be banned and anyone saying anything controversial should be banned.

/// Thought it only polite to reply, however ludicrous the question. ///

I admire your quest for politeness, perhaps when you reply to a question, you can also show that same politeness?
FF > I think many are put off by teh news thread being dominated by similar questions,

Wasn't it ever thus?

Many like myself have had lots of technical problems which caused my absence for several months.(Screen still freezes!)
Now there's a surprise, singled out by AOG for my incessant rudeness yet again.

What was the rude part of my reply which stood out from everyone else's please?
AOG....I think an apology to Mamy is called for here. There are few on here that are less offensive than Mamy.
I don't want his apology, trust me in that one.
^ on that
Answerbank has way more variety in its membership than it did when I first joined (at that time easily half of the News section was just posts by AOG).

Re: the question. We are governed by rule of law and have been for centuries. We've had a bill of rights for some 330 years which guarantees fair treatment by the courts and freedom from cruel and unusual punishment. Personally, I don't think that's a bad way to govern society and it's worked out pretty well for us. We've had far more serious challenges to our freedom since then and have managed not to abandon those principles, I don't see why we should suddenly consider it now.
