TTT First, I would support the expansion of anti-terror legislation so that 'enhanced monitoring capabilities' were easier for the security services to roll out. Been(sp) called what?
Another barren thread as in not trying to answer the question (although I like the comment by Faction Fictory).

"bandying around of these meaningless phrases is a tirsome in my opinion and stifles meaningful debate".

Meaningful debate? What's that, then?
I see lots of comments on what we shouldn't do, but few on what we should do.

Theresa May seems to have a few ideas. If you’re interested, see my post here:

Were are they going to put them? the prisons are full already?
In the interest of fair play and putting past differences aside, the comment at 11:17 from fiction-factory seems quite reasonable and workable.
It doesn't have to always be about internment and summary execution to be acceptable to the, dare I suggest, Frothy-mouthed Brigade, surely. :)
//Not forgetting VE, that besides ignoring the contradictions and obvious flaws engendered in a forced multicultural "society", the advocates of such a lopsided arrangement resort to demonising the astute critics of it. Usually conducted in an hysterical manner, with the well worn rhetoric of a zealot that brooks no counter point or view.  We have allowed them in under the guise of fleeing tyranny. But instead they have brought it with them, and the people blamed are not the facilitators of such folly but the ones who warned against it.//

I posted this a couple of days ago on another thread in similar vein. We all know what is going to happen, there will be a reaction that will be horrifying. Predicted by some and encouraged by the folly of the "Right On" brigades.(as 3T has christened them)

First, I would support the expansion of anti-terror legislation so that 'enhanced monitoring capabilities' were easier for the security services to roll out.

Once credible information (not threat, but information) was obtained - immediate arrest and detention.

Under the provisions of this new anti-terror legislation, suspects can be held (upon judicial review of the case) for six months whilst security services assess the threat based on a new set of protocols, which would have to be ratified by Parliament.

This would mean a wholesale upheaval in our judicial process, but lets be honest - I think that a) most people would support it and b) it's only going to affect would be terrorists.

Also, I would put a penny on income tax to fund an increase in police and security services numbers.

And I commission a public inquiry into our trade, economic and military relationship with all areas of the Middle East.
What is stopping TM implementing her " ideas ", she's the one in position to do so ?
The election?

Yes good points ff and sp.
Well it would seem that they cannot come up with any ideas so lets approach this from a different angle.
Lets ask them what have you against any of these suggestions?

/// start by preventing more Muslims from entering the country, close mosques and Muslim faith schools, and remove all Imams and Islamic literature from prisons. All foreign terrorist sympathisers should be deported without ceremony, along with their families, and the rest incarcerated for life. ///

Sits back and awaits their answers.

Apologies to naomi24 for using her original ideas.
I would also like to add two of my own,

The introduction of ID cards and the cessation of duel nationality passports.
Feeling 'en garde' AOG?
Question Author
thanks Sp some good ideas, BA for at least having a go at the original question rather than trying to bully the questioner.
awwww. Is im feeling bullied Tora. There there. There's a helpline you know!
AOG

I personally have no problem with ID cards. I have a photo driving licence, and I use it as a proxy ID card anyway.

My only question would be - how effective would they be as a counter-terrorism measure?
Good question TTT, just wish I knew the answer. Dare I say, close all mosques and don't allow the building of any more ?? Thought not ..
Meanwhile, back on planet Earth......
