i'd rather stick needles in my eye
Already am ;)

No, it would be my worst nightmare
Wouldn't say no, although at my age it has probably lost a lot of attraction. Harry isn't going to convince many I reckon, nice try though. Best thing would be for that whole tranche of government was consigned to history. It has no real role any more, anyway.

QOM - LOL!
Did he forget about Charles.

He can't wait to be King.
"Did he forget about Charles."

No, he specifically spoke about the younger generation of Royals.

I'd give it a go agchristie. We'd have a constitutional crisis in about 5 minutes, but I would enjoy those minutes I'm sure.
I wouldn't want to take any position that involved being forced to stand alongside Donald Trump without being able to tell him what I think of him -- or to suggest where he can shove his border wall...

Ed - I don't know about a constitutional crisis but you have some form after making the AB changes :-))
I can't see that in the BBC article though, Ed.

Jim - now you can't pick and choose!

The Queen shook hands with Mr McGuinness...

All that fancy food, all that travelling, all those free tickets to the major sporting events. All that waving. No thanks:-///
It does sort of hint at the "skip Charles" deal that might have been agreed though doesn't it?

I like the bit about him doing his own shopping: http://www.newsweek.com/2017/06/30/prince-harry-depression-diana-death-why-world-needs-magic-627833.html

“Even if I was king, I would do my own shopping.”

He's also concerned about being papped at the deli. I wonder how normal it can be.
Even when he is out shopping he will have burly security men close by at all times.

There'd be blocked aisles, trolley rage, fruit and veg flying in all directions....
I imagine actually the King or Queen could be quite awkward even if they kept to the neutrality rule if they were of a mind to and on that basis I think I'd give it a whirl. I think the present Queen all full of duty, energy for the role and tradition is miles away form what a monarch actually could get away with being like. Telling people they can't do things is one thing, actually preventing them if they are determined is an altogether other thing :)

Kval - indeed!

Where are you numerically in line to the throne? ;-)
Pretty sure that you have to be on this list (as of Jan 2001; presumably any issue born since fleshes out the list) to be in line to the Throne :(

Quite a way off I'd imagine :) Although my Mum along with about 250,000 other people is descended from Edward III, but I'd say they probably wouldn't consider me based on that :)

Fascinating Jim!
