So how did these get fire safety certificates? Just how bent is the fire service inspection process? They must be conspiring with builders etc. terrifying. Heads need to roll over this. I can remember how rigorous fire inspections were when I was secretary of a club, pity they don't do the same thorough job with tower blocks.

The actual grant or not of a fire safety certificate is down to the council. Normally a fire brigade recommendation that a certificate not be granted would ensure that the house / housing in question was not granted a certificate. But in the present situation it is becoming obvious that 'palms were greased '
