I feel sorry for the whole silly charade. How a "civilised" nation can descend to the level Tin Pot African dictatorship is saddening.
Tora. What do you mean?
There shouldn't have been justice for these dead people and their families?
not at all, I mean that to pin the blame on a few police officers who were working on the day, trying to deal with a difficult issue, primarily caused by ticketless fans is the sort of thing that happens in TPLACs. It would not be justice to prosecute someone for the sake of it. If they broke the law by falsifying statements etc prosecute for that but Manslaughter? How? did they set out to create the disaster?
Pity some of the aggressive Liverpool supporters who caused the mayhem on the day cant be prosecuted as well.

While I accept there were major problems on the police side, and a major cover up by the police, we all know that the arrival of many Liverpool fans without tickets who were determined to get in by any means caused the problem in the first place.

Yet the people from Liverpool make out they are totally innocent.

For example if Notts Forest (or many other teams) had been at that end of the ground instead we would not have had the problem that day.

I know this may not be a popular answer but, unfortunately it was by their own doing.

If some hadn't stampeded into the stadium in the way that they did it just wouldn't have happened.

Now to please the poor relatives of those unfortunately killed, they must find and punish scapegoats to appease them.
guilbert: "Yet the people from Liverpool make out they are totally innocent" - not just liverpool see the past discussions on here for example. Simple logic tells me that they must have been a factor. If we are prosecuting anyone we should also be prosecuting them.
// How a "civilised" nation can descend to the level Tin Pot African dictatorship is saddening.//

96 dead and no one to blame - righto!

(how civilised - another cup of earl grey Tor'? is that with milk or lemon?)
// Simple logic tells me that they must have been a factor.//
what their scouse accents scream "guilty guilty guilty!" ?

as for prosecuting them - what prosecute dead people for er being dead ? - er normal day on Aaaaaay Beeeee !
95 charges of manslaughter - ridiculous !
Ticketless fans did not open the gate!!
so PP are you saying that all the dead were ticketless? think it through son. As usual the dead were probably legit; victims of those forcing their way in and no doubt poor decisions by the police but I cannot see manslaughter there.
"Ticketless fans did not open the gate!! " - no but they created the conditions to make that an option.
ooh, charge them with creating conditions!

I'm sure that must be a crime under some medieval proclamation.
And once that 'option' had been taken, the fans should have been marshalled correctly by police. From the moment that gate was opened, the police were entirely clueless.
believe what you want, the catalyst was ticket less fans. I don't see how manslaughter can be leveled at the police and not the primary cause of this disaster.
