Perhaps in those countries that are not so acceptive to homosexuality, but surely there is now no longer need here?

“…wander to somewhere along the route of the march. You'll both be very welcome and have an excellent time. :o)” Two or three years ago I was unfortunate enough to be “somewhere along the route of the march”, not wandering but trying to go about my business. I’m not sure whether or not I was welcome (I would like to hope I was not). This was because my...

Exactly, SP.......Parades are very often made up of people celebrating one particular event or way of life.....
Pride has widened so much......to continue it as a tradition....an event that lots can enjoy just for the sheer fun of it....would be wonderful.....
There will always be a bit of me celebrating the fact that my nephew can walk down the street holding his partner's hand......my niece and her wife can wheel their daughter in her buggy....
That's a change I'm pleased and proud to have been part of.....but I will always have in mind those who suffered because they were not allowed to do those things....
Most of this thread has been good.....that makes me happy too....x

Was that horrible attack on that person, due to him being homosexual?
If so then just like what is now called a hate crime, it would be condemned by most decent minded people, even those who are not prepared to accept certain factors of homosexuality.
But homosexuals are not the only people who can be attacked by such thugs, anyone can these days be them Straight, Gay, Jewish Black, White, Indian.Females or Males, or Ginger Haired, no one is excluded.
The difference being there are only certain groups that can say "I was attacked because I'm..........." and then everyone holds their hands up in sheer horror.

And I'm now Great Auntie G to a lovely little lass.....and she has the happiest family.....
My auntie is in her nineties.....so older than some on here.....she's never had a moments problem with any of us.......we're all the same to her......genuinely......
She'd be...well puzzled really....about what some are calling her family.....x

I did present the case that I rested about three hundred posts ago.
"You could have been just as held up by a large group of folk you have no gripe with.....I doubt you would have used such nasty descriptions of them.....x"
Yes I could. And I have been. And my view of them is just the same. I don't really know how many times I can explain: it is not the individuals or their cause with which I take issue. It is nothing to do with my view on homosexuality (of which I have precious little as I've already said). It is the event itself. It is unnecessary and in an inappropriate location. It seems this contention of mine is not accepted and I keep hearing that it is my "dated" views on homosexuality which jaundices my argument. I've never expressed any views on homosexuality other than to say I have no particular views.
Strangely I was surprised that it took 320 posts to raise the annual Remembrance Parade. That event (like the State opening of Parliament, which causes similar disruption) is a State event organised by the government and attended by the Monarch and senior politicians. There is simply no comparison with other events and to try to equate them is simply daft. Having said that even that event took some cognisance of the inconvenience it placed on the populous when it was consigned to a Sunday and not the 11th November.

/// they're planning to close London streets on Remembrance Sunday again this year, the weirdos., ///
You can't compare closing the streets so as to remember the dead of two World Wars and other War situations, to closing the streets so as to celebrate being gay.
If it hadn't been for those brave and gallant Veterans, the likes of you would not be free or even alive, to spout your ridiculous comments.
