Good morning everyone - it's grey and it's wet and it's mad Monday ....would you believe it's not going all that well ....stayed up way past my bedtime watching tennis ...what made me think I could still function this morning :((

And as for the links ...not much improvement there ....we missed out on two possible chances to score...and I can't believe nobody put French Bread !!

Broad Cloth
Pearl Barley
French Bread ?????
Bench Press

Seven players managed the maximum of three points while quite a few picked up a single point but all things considered, it wasn't one of our better weeks and we can only hope the last two rounds bring a couple of avalanches with them and our final tally improves.

The LEADER BOARD so far looks like this ....

9 points - rockfordill

7 points - jillywiskas

6 points - cpfcrosie, cupid04, Dickiedot, owllady, seekeerz & tonyav..

5 points - lysander & Sam1960

4 points - Aquagility, dannyk13, Gill G, iminoz, jollyroger66, murraymints, Muzz, teacher1 & x-ray

So Congratulations to all the points scorers for this week, that old saying from our school days comes to mind ..you know the one ....and we'll all have to, so rock on next week, but till then stay safe and cool, Cheers Steff

Thanks S. I'm not really surprised French Bread didn't get picked up. I can't think of the last time I heard anybody using it. Everyone is much more specific - baguette, ficelle etc. The only reference I can recall is from the log of an English gent sailing to France in the 1920s (when it was still non-U to use French words viz: mirror [looking glass] recipe [receipt] etc)and asking his daughters to go ashore and buy "a yard of French bread"!
I don't think broad cloth is all that common either.
what on earth is a broad cloth?!!

Anyhoo, at least I got a point.

Well done to point scorers and thanks Steff, you do a grand job xx

Oooo didn't expect contentious comments ....

Strix ....it's surprising whenever Kate has French as the link, then 'bread' is a very popular match, but the reverse doesn't apply.

Broad cloth is an old type of material not used too much these days ...mens clothing was made chiefly out of broadcloth.
Thanks Steff x

Everyday is a school-day, I think that's why I love AB :-D
Hope you have a "wooden spoon" ready to post to me Seekeerz ;-/
Sorry, Seekie I didn't intend any contentiousness.

That's one of my favourites too, alba ....I always learn something new each week :))
This is the first month ever that I have nil points! Must try harder.
Go for the obvious I tell oneself and I do... nil points. Go for the obscure... nil points. Well never mind... after all they're ducking and divin' hiding their French bread from my guesses ;-)

Keep up the good work Seekeerz and thank you for sorting etc...
