There are plenty of ways to personalise identification such as fingerprint and iris recognition without using something so invasive.

Regarding chip versus fingerprint and iris scanners, I prefer the idea of me holding the information and a scanner checking it, as opposed to the scanner holding all the information and checking it is me. Say for example our passport was on such a chip, every country in the world wouldn´t need access to our details, they would just need to read the scan the way they would have read our passport.
