The grooming gangs explicitly stem from values and beliefs about British society and people in it. They're also run in a more social way and even appear to have an element of male bonding to them. I don't think either of those things are true for pedo rings.

Also pedophilia correlates with different things. One is far more likely to be a pedophile if one was abused as a child. They are quite often products of generational abuse.

There's not much evidence that this plays a role in the grooming gangs, which seem to be entirely about targeting white girls because they are "less decent" and "want it" (as these predators see it) in comparison with muslim girls.

So, the two crimes target different people, are committed in different ways, and seem - as far as we can possibly tell - to be caused by different things.

As usual, you raise some very valid point concerning the difference between crimes carried out by different ethnic groups.

AOG has asked whether certain crimes are carried out by specific groups. I think there's (empirical) evidence of this - I can't ever recall seeing a non-white paedophile gang or a non-Asian grooming gang.

I can see the reasons for the latter, but not the former.

Interesting to note however that in these days of diversity and giving none white actors a chance, the producers of Coronation street weren't brave enough to make the story line more believable by casting Asian actors for the grooming roles.

Yes Coronation Street is obviously fiction, but the vogue now is for them to give out certain messages.

I'm sure there are, but the OP question was whether there is a link between certain groups and specific crimes.

There may be white grooming gangs and Asian paedophile rings and Sikh knife gangs, but we don't see that much of them in the news.
