I don't agree with everything Mr Carr has to say but boy-oh-boy there are some spot on characterisations of certain AB individuals in here.

Do you believe his assertions that we're slipping into the mire via the more radical factions of the public to have a voice?

What would you call people who threaten to kill or throw acid in the face of someone who's actions prevented an unconstitutional course of action from being implemented Balders? There not exactly Oxbridge material are they?

Anyway, I must away to York for liquid refreshment and comestibles. Thanks to most for keeping the debate civil. Very refreshing
//and only serve to highlight the gutter level thinking of some leave voters.//
Whilst ignoring the gutteral of the Remainiacs or indeed glossing it up with "clever" preambles to impress the swooning set. Too clever by half indeed.

"Cries Ovid, ah! what inexpressible fun!!
I find you're a rare dab, bright Sir, at a pun. —
Aye, rejoin'd his bright spouse, he's too clever by half,
For he makes such attempts that I never can laugh —
Thus meaning to shew her good man was a calf."

I love the way he mentions "the will of the people" - his quotes - as a phrase of derision. Just demonstrates the contempt he and others have for the will of the people.
jim: "I say "debate", but Leave Voters seem convinced that the debate is over, which presumably explains why anyone who tries to persuade them otherwise is shot down so viciously. " - well makes a change, the right on brigade have decided all the "correct" views on any subject for the last 40 years or so and any detractors are routinely berated and called names. The boot may be briefly on the other foot.
“Many business leaders feel that it would be simpler for businesses if there were some measures agreed before we leave.”

What many business leaders seem to want is the continuation of the status quo because it makes life easy for them. For forty years they have been cossetted by one of the most protectionist organisations in the world (and its so-called “Single Market”). So much so that many of them have forgotten (if they ever knew) that there is another bit of the world (where about 93% of the population live). They need to wean themselves off Mother-EU with her seemingly limitless supply of breast milk that is cheap and unskilled labour together with her protected markets and join the rest of the world. Their “agreed measures” are really the continued protectionism and bureaucracy that stifles the 95% of companies in the UK that have no dealings whatsoever with the EU.

I was interested to read Mr Carr’s diatribe where he castigates the UK for detaining some illegal immigrants:

"It is worth reminding ourselves that the essential ‘crime’ committed by these detainees was simply to come here ‘without permission’

He would know, of course if he had done his stuff, that there is no need to place the word “crime” in inverted commas. The UN Convention on the Status of Refugees states that they are only afforded protected status (i.e. protected from action for illegal entry) if they arrived directly from an area where their lives or safety are threatened. Since virtually none arriving in the UK do this they are all illegal immigrants. As such they have committed the crime of arriving without leave to do so and are liable to penalty. The fact that so few are highlights the liberal attitude (or more likely inability to cope) demonstrated by the UK authorities. I suppose his proposed alternatives to incarceration are a short spell in a holiday camp followed by a free council house and a life on benefits.
Just another professional "Liberal" making a damn good living blurring the difference between right and wrong but hiding it behind Rights and "justice". Whilst all the time demonstrating their own penchant for denying the rights of ordinary people, especially in Britain, from determining their own future. The self elected spokesman for the underprivileged from his gated and secure enclosure of easy living. An example of what is indeed Wrong with the free World. People just like him holding the reigns of power and policy decision without any noticeable responsibility when it goes horribly wrong. Just the means to blame someone else. The Huff Puff Post for example. Meeh.
........she is considering leaving the country. I'm very sorry,.. for the lucky nation that gets this haridan.
I didn't know that, 3Ts. Perhaps we could start a "crowdfunding" appeal to pay for her fare.
Doesn't her beau work in "The City", merchant banker( no rhyming there 3T) or something. Perhaps they will believe their own publicity and byggar off to Berlin or Paris then.
The three Brexiteers.
dunno but I'd bung an apple in the bin towards a one way jiminy for this treacherous Richard.
stepping away from Brexit, I think that she makes a valid point that society’s more liberal views had skimmed over some very deep divisions....like skin healing over a deep and festering sore. While the sore is there, real healing can’t happen...so maybe its better to find this out now than further down the line?
The three Brexiteers.

I quite like that! I think I'll be Aramis. :-)

But what about the remaining 17,410,739 of us?

Hah Garaman must be one of the Dirty Dozen. ;))
"any detractors are routinely berated and called names" says the man who keeps referring to the SGB [Sour Grapes Brigade] when folk have a different view from his. Mind you, it's better than being called a traitor.
57 posts on what is essentially a rant and as far as rants go ... a boring rant.
Most questions in "News" are rants, Talbot.

"They are quite quiet and willing to accept the advice of professionals :)"

If it was left to the "professionals" Brexit would not even be on the agenda.
Exactly, NJ, and what a shame it wasn't.
