Perhaps not the correct way to go about it, but is this any different to those who complain there are not enough black actors etc, or there are too many white football managers etc?

(Sir Gary Sobers has joint Barbadian/Australian nationality.)

Who was that for?
I was explaining the .5s in the number of Knights.
I can't see how Australia knighted him.
Obviously we shall have to wait for the revelation SP has promised us will come, but I feel however steady a cricketer he was or not he wasn't dynamic enough.

His remark did sound peevish.
He's obviously not been thuggish enough - he should have done a lot more scrapping in public, assaulting the Public at 35,000 feet, drugs and debauchery and then gone for long walks while the dust settled.
That's how crickets get Knighted...
Regarding Sobers, yes he was knighted by Barbados. When I looked at the list in Wikipedia it showed him as
Sir Garfield St Aubrun Sobers, AO, OCC. When I clicked on the "AO", it took me to the Order of Australia page and the first thing you see is the Insignia of a Knight/Dame of the Order of Australia.

That confused me but then I found out he had the dual nationality. So he's a Knight, he's Australian and he's a member of an Australian order of chivalry. That's why I thought it had been awarded by Australia. If he was Knighted by Barbados why no other letters after his name?

It turns out Barbados didn't nominate him because they had stopped putting their folk forward for UK honours, it was done by the UK. As he's a Knight Bachelor, that's the lowest rank and as he's not a member of any Order, there are NO letters after his name.

There you have it, I was wrong but at least I've learnt a new thing about Knights.
The more I read about knights the more I thought ... confused ... you will be!

Sir Geoffrey is now working for Yorkshire Airlines....here's the evidence,
Thanks DT !...what I like about that clip is although the Alan Bennett Class looks very posh, they are still being serviced that awful Mushy Peas, in exactly the same way !

Here is the Yorkshire Haka....how much ? how much ?

My dad is from Yorkshire. I love sending him those YouTube clips.

I don't know how G Boycott is still getting work. Does anyone really enjoy listening to him? Same with Ian Botham. He's right up his own whatsit.
Perhaps if Boycott is still unsuccessful about getting a Knighthood, he could try for living Saint !

St Geoffrey of Yorkshire !
TCL, there is no end to the amount of stuff about honours that we rustic oiks will never learn.
