This was kept under wraps over the weekend, as the medial concentrated on the positive aspects.
Now the police are having their say as they were in the front line.
One must only read up on British Medieval Criminology - they loved a festival and violence did creep in as sadly it does in any gathering of large numbers.
That is not to condone it in any way, control when numbers are as huge as they are today is extremely difficult.
//Laugh of the day for pure stupidity for this answer please //
Interesting to see you post having a dig at a posters opinion but fail miserably to answer the OP. 1) that is very rude and 2) It really does not make you look good when you continually do that.
It is hardly surprising that the media portrays the more jovial aspects of this event. They simply dont want to be castegated by the liberal left (and indeed many papers are infiltrated by the liberal left anyway) and called names.
NJ, I reckon you have summed up my feelings on it well too.
There is no excuse for attacks on the police. Anyone caught, arrested and convicted should face the stiffest of penalties.
But banning the Carnival? I don't think that is a proportionate response. If we ban the carnival, then we need to shut down every single pub, bar and nightclub that the police are called out to in every urban, suburban and provincial town during kicking out time.
...because the police face assault and injury in these environments 52 weeks of the year.
