This is unbelievable !

I hope that the kids are now being looked after by normal people.

Hey. Everyone is born equal tho!
The shootings "began as a bit of fun and developed from there". What The Funicular?!

Shooting your kids began as a bit of fun? Some people should never be allowed to have kids. Ever.
Sickening.
Their punishments were far too lenient. They should have both gone to prison for a considerable stretch. Sickos.
What's happening to some children behind closed doors Mikey? It's a very sad world at times.
It seems perfectly reasonable to me.

There are too many children around who believe that life is a free ride and that rules and regulations do not apply to them. Sometimes a shot or two up the Aris with a ball-bearing gun is the only language they understand.
Are you serious?
When I saw the OP's headline I assumed it was about taking photos, not actually shooting their children with pellets. It is unbelievable. The punishments are way too light.

Eleena...it is indeed.

NJ....if this wasn't such a serious affair, I might be tempted to say lol.
I've been keeping an eye on this story since earlier in the year.

It's stomach-churning......utterly stomach-churning.
Both should have received equal harsh sentences, why once again has the female got off lightly?
"Are you serious?"

Deadly.
hey jth as you reside in Blackpool maybe you can find their address for us & we can slip round & have a little chat.
But only after they've done a hard days draft down the pit, eh NJ?

Jeez......!
I think that's a slight on all colliers, Chill! Pick another occupation please.
'Deadly' - says it all really.
NJ, the children sustained injuries with this so-called "punishment."

The eldest attended school with an open wound (which could have become infected and, at worst, led to death) which is what first caused alarm.

This was cruelty, not a strict upbringing.
New Judge - possibly the place for heavyweight sarcasm which can get lost in print - is not a thread where cruelty to children is being discussed.

Just a thought.
///Both should have received equal harsh sentences, why once again has the female got off lightly? ///

Because the father was the primary aggressor and the mother, hopefully under the watchful eye of a variety of support services, will be able to keep the children together and out of the 'Care' system.
From the report:

//Defending, Rosalyn Emslie-Smith said the father had "always accepted he has failed in terms of his parenting", while Ciaran Rankin, defending his wife, said the "misguided" shootings "began as a bit of fun and developed from there".//

I agree that this is serious, but that genuinely looks like it was taken from some satirical sketch show.

If you were told that was part of the script from 'Not The Nine O'Clock News', you'd believe it.

Some parents are a real horror show. And I think this goes to support the idea that some babies draw the short straw when it comes to the households they are born into.

(cough cough 'clean slate').
