Well seeing that AOG didn't write the news article merely asked the question, I don't know why he is being attacked .There are numerous countries in the world that are blaming immigrants for the rise in attacks on LGBT people so maybe the answer is yes.

Well known if overly polite terms, Jack.
Just what is your problem?
They are meaningless phrases bandied about by 'the likes of' AOG to spike the argument of anyone with a contrary opinion.

I have enough abuse and name calling from the likes of you, so why should I just receive it without the chance to throw some of it back?

You will notice that I have provided a perfectly reasonable question, but others just wish to take the opportunity once again to attack me.

I don't mind others who might want to disagree with me, and if they do I am quite within my right to counter argue the point, that is what debate is all about, but some of you have not the slightest knowledge of debating, but instead choose to turn my threads into constant slanging matches.

I was under the impression that in order to debate a position you have to defend it on its own merit. You signally fail to do so each time. In this case, so far as I can see, the best you have to offer to motivate the question is that someone mentioned it in a phone-in on a radio show.

I am not sure you are in any real position to lecture people on the art of debate.
I have provided my own first-hand account and opinions but these seem to have been (conveniently) ignored by the OP, too.

Not much of a debating-style by you, AOG, in all honesty...

Off goes the irony Klaxon horn, loud and clear.

But it is nice to see you copying my well known catch phrase, you know what they say "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".
Oh the irony.

I'm not convinced that the rise correlates to immigration. I think there are other factors that should be considered:-

1. the fact that abuse/violence on the basis of sexual orientation is now treated seriously as a crime. 40 years ago there was no such crime and "gay bashing" was a national pastime.
2. the fact that victims are now encouraged to report such crimes and know they will be listened to. In the past they didnt bother reporting it because the police were equally prejudiced.
3. Prejudice against people who are LGBT is still very much alive and kicking amongst the indiginous population - you only have to read some comments on AB to know that.
BM

3. It sure is.

On this one, as always I have been that busy defending myself against the constant abuse and insults, that I have not had the time or valid opposition, so as to join in a serious debate.
Arrant nonsense, AOG.
What constant abuse and insults?

How the hell did you make it into the RAF with such a sensitive soul?
You'very not had the time, ANOTHEOLDGIT? The thread started more than seventy-two hours ago. If you've not been able to provide evidence to support the question, does that not suggest something?
Doesn't one support (or otherwise) a viewpoint rather than a question (which is neutral).
You can ask any question but if you believe in a particular answer to that question or a reason for asking the question, it helps to have something to support it.
Corby...I think you should ask the Ed to shorten your name.
I'm not sure that many of ANOTHEOLDGIT's questions can be said to be neutral.
UMMMM, how?

And I agree with all of your points, they all could be a reason, and so could the introduction of certain foreign cultures into this country.

But strangly you chose not to place that down as one of your possible reasons, but did not in fact forget to blame the indigenous population, very strange that.

So to be fair, perhaps you should have included a number 4 amongst your possible reasons.

4. Prejudice against people who are LGBT is still very much alive and kicking amongst the Muslim world - you only have to read your newspapers to know that.

There now, what is wrong with that, a nice level playing field for a change.

Incidentally a little proof for you. coming from a Gay Muslim who married his Gay partner.

/// He said: 'It went all over school, people would spit on me, empty the rubbish bins on me, call me pig and the Muslim people would shout "harum" - which is a very nasty insult in my language.'
According to Mr Choudhury the situation only got worse - he was assaulted by fellow Muslims in the street where he lived and a homophobic slur was sprayed on his front door.
The mosque he'd been attending for the past 15 years no longer allowed him in and he was physically attacked by other Muslim boys. Feeling ostracised, Mr Choudhury attempted to kill himself. ///
