Corbyn Sings 'the Red Flag'
He can sing The Red Flag, but not the national anthem
He despises the Monarchy and has no life experiences outside of party politics, in all his years as a well paid MP he has continually opposed his own party and never chaired or been asked to chair a single committee and he supports the anti-Semitic fascist Muslim groups dedicated to the destruction of Israel. His 'manifestos' are full of lies and are based entirely on outdated Marxist rhetoric.
Would you want this man to run your country?

"The reason he was happy to sing, possibly with gusto, the Red flag and not the national anthem is because he believes in the cause of the red flag but not in the nation and sovereignty. "
I'd say that that is fundamentally incorrect. I think Corbyn is perfectly "patriotic" in that sense. After all, he is anti-EU for the reason that he sees it as a "capitalist club" detrimental to the interests of British workers. Of course there is a big conflict there between being liberal on immigration and protecting "British" jobs which is why debate on the EU was, disgracefully, suppressed at the conference.
So it is a question of "what do you think iis best for the country?". I personally don't think obsessing about singing the National Anthem is worthwhile, but nor do I think the Red Flag is an apt for suitable anthem for anyone in the 21st century. As I said before, two conflicting mindsets, and both outdated.
Vince is your man :-)

Ichkieria and Mikey,
I MAY be fundamentally wrong about Corbyns patriotism but he sure as hell APPEARS to not give too hoots.
Didn't really want to embrace British values did he. Didn't want to sing the national anthem, bow to the queen, go to remembrance services as the leader of the opposition should. The list of what he wasn't prepared to do unless he really, really really had to was widely publicised. Now of course he pays lip service to all that with his fingers crossed behind him just so he can get up the greasy ladder.
I don't think anyone should be forced, coerced or made to feel they should sing the anthem, bow to the queen or any of those things if it isn't something they believe in. But he should NOT do any of it if all he is doing is hoodwinking the gullible (oh, just answered why he does) or to get his place in the troff. Let him be proud to not support the monarchy, let him be proud of the fact he misses rememberence services and uses tragedy to further his politics. Let him be proud of that and let him show people what he really is.
When I go to church I don't sing the hymns or bow my head when they say a prayer but I stand respectfully in silence. That is because I don't believe. To sing the songs and say the prayers would be hypocritical. But I don't deny I don't believe. If anyone asked me I would say.
But a spade is a spade and to not do

But a spade is a spade and to not do
I did not suggest that it should be the song at the Tory Conference Mikey, my suggestion was that it should be England's National Anthem!
Of course if other people living in England were to get on their knees in protest I would have no problem with that either. You know like the Black athletes protest during the American anthem. That is where the Donald went wrong you see. He should have insisted that they HAD to kneel during the American anthem...... they would soon be standing up. :))

Oh twaddle what happened to the end of my post ??
A spade is a spade and to say it is a shovel when it isn't won't make it a shovel.
I agree with some posts that point out it is said at every Labour conference so from that point of view it is non news. The news bit is that he doesn't sing the anthem.

I don't like 'God Save the Queen', it's a bit of a dirge, but I sing it because it is our National Anthem. I love 'Jerusalem', but it might be tricky. I'd go for 'I Vow to Thee, my Country', possibly altering some bits in (I think) v.2- or why not commission the inestimable John Rutter(just had his 72nd birthday) to produce one. He writes wonderful choral music.
No, anyone who disrespects his country should not run it.
