No one should be justifying that - or dismissing it. Had circumstances been different those who are dismissing this now would have been incensed. Depends who's depicted hanging from the gallows I suppose.
//Had circumstances been different those who are dismissing this now would have been incensed.//

Here we go...
Indeed we do. Truth hurts.
What? The fact that people sometimes form different opinions on different situations, because they're different?
Why "Here we go" ?

Naomi has simply written what would happen.

This sort of behaviour, and that of labour supporters like Mickey, is pretty standard stuff. It is good, it exposes such people for what they are.
Not really, Krom. Just that depictions for political purposes of people hanging shouldn’t be acceptable in any circumstances – but clearly they are – as I said, depending on who’s hanging.
Do you really think average Labour supporters want to hang their opponents, ymb?
Why "clearly they are [acceptable]", though? I very specifically made a point at the end of my post decrying it.

Also, I don't think i have a problem with "whataboutery" per se. Sometimes it is genuinely a straw man, other times it's legitimate, and it depends on the "whataboutery" in question.

For my example... I'm sure that my specific examples don't necessarily make the point perfectly, but still I am interested to hear about when exactly was this mythical time when debate was somehow meant to be at a higher level.
Jim, //I very specifically made a point at the end of my post decrying it. //

The thread isn't all about you.
I didn't say it was. But it still seems to be an important counterexample to your post.
In fairness Jim did denounce the actions of these idiots but there are many on the thread that haven't and more importantly ... don't want to.
^Precisely.
Name calling has always been a part of politics. It is just that of recent years name calling has degenerated into vileness beyond anything I would have thought. The division has widened I think because they think they are informed but actually they aren't. It's mostly sound bites that are a good idea but in reality unworkable. But hay, who cares when the sound bite sounds good?

The chants of Tory scum by Labourites sounds good to them because they think the only party looking out for working people is Labour and the only people looking out for the well off are Tory. Sound bites win.

For some reason, and it may be that I don't see/hear it it seems to be the left, or is it far left, appear to do it more! Labour activists, Momentum.

What do these people hope to achieve by their vileness?

Regardless of political party no one should be allowed to get away with this sort of thing. When did we as a nation become this? Why do we allow this? And don't give me carp about democracy and free speech because this goes beyond free speech.
I'm not convinced it's worse: it's just somewhat more visible.
/// Like OG says, you always get some weirdos and crazies, it can't really be avoided. ///

Oh how tolerant some can be when it is the Left being criticised, we don't hear the same when the Right are protesting.

No they are all bundled together under such descriptions as 'Neo-Nazis', 'Fasists', 'Knuckle Draggers', or 'Beer swilled, Football Hooligans'.

...and white supremicists and Jew haters.

With justification.

There's no justification in the abhorrent effigies. None whatsoever. One can only hope that it was hung by some lone looney. Like the chap who murdered MP Jo Cox.
Anyone who hangs banners like this and has ideas to match is in need of their bumps being felt.

As is anyone who believes such actions represent the whole of a party or persuasion - for that read 'any' party or persuasion.

They want rooting out and to be openly disowned by those they purport to speak for.
Every time I hear the mention of fruitloops I always think of Boris Johnson, can't think why.
