I know there's not much interest on this site about phone hacking. There were only 259 threads about the right wing News of the World (RIP)
But my question is, do you think the odious Piers Morgan could/should end up in prison?

The left wing Daily Mirror hacked Coogan and a plethora of other slebs.
I'm sure I read a Judge saying their hacking all the other UK papers put together.
Don't know why but then I have zero interest in the private lives of others.
Some people must or we wouldn't be where we are.

If the Mirror Group actively hacked individuals then it’s needs to pay up. There are no excuses. It was illegal.

As for Piers Morgan, he’s already been interviewed under caution back in 2014 - not sure whether this new payout will add weight to any chance of a prosecution.

they did it to keep up with the right wing Sun in getting scoops. I'm not clear why this one's taken so long to sort out when the scandal broke years ago, but good luck to Coogan, he deserves every penny.

No Sun or News of the World editors ended up in prison that I can recall. Andy Coulson was hired by David Cameron. Rebekah Brooks is now CEO of News UK. Hacking is clearly a route to promotion. Should Morgan be treated differently because he edited a left wing paper?

You may be misremembering the events of the News of the World. No-one saw the closure (by Rupert Murdoch) coming. It was a huge shock, and the left wing luvvies (sigh) certainly didn’t campaign for its closure.

I’ve done a Google search for ‘campaign to close news of the world’.

Couldn’t find anything.
