Police To Stop Investigating Burglaries

I know burglary has been considered a low-level crime for some time now, but having been a burglary victim I can assure you it feels like anything but, so my question is do the police have their priorities in order?

I'm sure the recent £1.5m cost to come to the conclusion that Ted Heath would have been questioned will have Heath quaking in his boots.....oh, hang on, it won't, and that as Weinstein allegedly sexually assaulted some actresses on UK soil no doubt a vast amount of money will be spent investigating this even though there is zero chance of him facing trial in the UK.

I accept it's difficult to capture a burglar, but does it being difficult mean they shouldn't at least try?

Mikey, so how come you said just days ago that the police had plenty of resources?
Danny....but if the Police are having to investigate the theft of things like Mobile phones, on top all the work that you used to do, but with less staff, how do we expect them to cope ?
The police seem to have lost the art of prioritising. Nobody available for a burglary but when somebody steals a car, six police cars and a helicopter are dispatched.
Yeah...but someone in a stolen car can easily kill people with it.
Mikey where do you get your 20000 figure from and is that just from England or UK wide?
How much is natural waste and how much is actual sackings?
Bringing back '20 000' coppers or whatever wont change a thing.

There is plenty of money is just that the Police Force, sorry service now has lost its way and become a glorified social services at the top complete with a heavy management structure. This takes all the money and means the poor copper 'on the beat' is as at the sharp end of supposed 'cuts'

It would be easy to restructure, remove the liberal left do gooders from the management structure and return to being a Police Force solving crime. However, as TTT points out is must be very dis-heartening for a Policemen to do all the leg work only for the beak to let the toe-rag off with a slap on the wrist. And sometimes not even that.
//Its not just burglary's that the Police can't cope with any more//
//.if the Police Chiefs are now saying that they can't cope, //
Now if you change can't to won't in those "statements" you are getting to the nub of the matter.
ummmm, true, usually by the police cars that are chasing.
The real tragedy is that the BBC have had to Cancel 'CrimeWatch', because the police do not want to solve crimes anymore.
I was burgled many years ago and at the time I felt the police were not really interested, just going through the motions. If this comes into being then I think it will be a sad day indeed and will give the low life thieves carte blanche to do what they want when they want - madness ! We do need more police though, definitely ...
It seems to me that the one thing that has gone missing since my days in the force is pride.
Don't the police spend more and more time form filling after they've made an arrest?

Tough job with little or no thanks.

(was burgled once, they still haven't caught the bandit)
"Tough job with little or no thanks." Totally agree with that comment ..
I happened to attend a "Neighbourhood Watch" presentation yesterday evening and was informed by one of the National Co-Ordinators, that, as well as significant increases in "key" categories of offence such as gun and knife attacks, the number of incidents of so called "cyber crime" are prevalent and growing. On its own, cyber crime, apparently, accounts for 80% of all criminal activities and law enforcement agencies appear to focus upon these as a priority.
Just bring back hanging and expedition to Australia for low-level crimes (or Rockall as an alternative).
sorry . . . last bit should have read:-

. . . law enforcement agencies appear to focus upon investigating these as a priority.
If the police cannot or will not protect the general public, then the people should be allowed to defend and protect thier own home and family. With severe force if necessary.
Private security firms are proliferating exponentially as the inadequacy of policing is exposed. Vigilantes, person justice, will and has to be the result. We must take responsibility for our own protection. The pride of our police has been squandered by political expediency.
