Inevitable, I'd say, though I'd have huge respect for him if he was offered it and turned it down.
Can't see him turning a knighthood down if offered. Mind you, Jackie Stewart had to wait almost 30 years after retirement before he 'bent the knee'.
No. He's doing his job and earning a huge amount of money. He's very young. A lifetime of charitable effort, might help. John Surtees was only knighted a few years ago and he was F1 Champion and also motor-cycling champion in the same year. Only person to have done so and that was long ago.
"Can't see him turning a knighthood down"

Neither can I.
very good, Baldric, but it seems identical in every respect to the link sp1814 provided in his original post.

Baldric, why post the same link as the OP? How has that helped the thread?
I agree with jourdain.
He needs to do lots for charity, and live in this country and pay taxes here before he gets a knighthood.

I enjoyed watching the race tonight, and I was glad to see him win the world championship.
Absolutely not. He is only doing a very well paid job. He isn't even a UK tax payer, he abandoned the country that nurtured him in his youth, to avoid taxes, by living in Switzerland

Angie, how have you helped the thread?

I usually just scan SPs posts, I find him tedious, so I missed the Link, OK?
So you comment on something without reading the whole piece? Perhaps you need to look closer to home before criticising others or is it one rule for you and a different rule for everyone else?
I feel Lewis will have to wait a while for any such honour.

Angie, grow up, as my link was the same as the OPers even you should surely realise we are in a rare moment of agreement.
Jourdain2, you will surprisedbe to learn that John Surtees was never knighted, a national disgrace. He did receive a CBE. Over the years I submitted three petions, the last one, 283,000 signatures, and I could never find out why he was denied a knighthood.
^be surprised^

SS, speculation on Surtees and gongs or lack of...I think it simply came down to the fact that he was his own man and had none of the right sort of pull in the right places. He would not cross a room to have small talk with 'important' people or travel for fatuous reasons and was never ever known to name-drop....the exact opposite of Jacky Stewart.
I have been fortunate to meet a number of F1 drivers and know exactly what you mean Rob. How I would love to see Murray Walker knighted before it's to late.
Great timing. :(
