These were elections for governors rather than Senators. Not clear they mean that much. You have to wait for the midterm elections next year, really, to see which way the US public is going on Trump -- and even that may not be a very good signal, as the Democrats have something like 27 of the 33 seats up for grabs already.
mikey - just because you think he is a 'truly awful man' and despise him, does not give you the right to constantly chastise those of us that don't! It's what makes the world go round you know ...
//A transgender legislator elected in Virginia, I see. Not many of those in Westminster. //
in order for that to happen, transgenders need to meet the electorate halfway and actually put themselves forward as candidates. so far only one has (and they lost by 5000 votes at the last election).
hereI am....everybody is entitled to their own views on Trump.
But I what would like to know is, from his supporters on AB ( not very many, I will accept ! ) is just exactly what does he have to do, before that wool is dragged from in front of their eyes ?
mikey - I don't get my knickers in a twist about him like you do. There are some things I don't like about him, but I far prefer him to that maniac DDD (as you call him) who is so keen to start a nuclear war.
Mikey, //exactly what does he have to do, before that wool is dragged from in front of their eyes ?//

The only possible reason I can think of, and the only one I have seen, for British people to support Trump is simply to annoy people who don’t like him. Or for effect. Not dissimilar to some on the left for example who take up bizarre causes in order to appear ‘with it’ :-)
I heard him saying this morning that this US administration was not like any US administration seen before, or words to that effect: and in that I would have to agree with his Trumpness
Possibly through the law of Unintended Consequences -- his repudiation of the Paris Climate Treaty, the Iran Nuclear Deal, and Obamacare have probably done more to advance them than grudging acceptance would have...
