I'm the same. When ciggies went up to 44p for 20 I vowed that if they ever reached 50p I would pack in. They are now over £10 per packet and I'm still paying.

pubs cannot compete with 2 or 3 for one deals either on packs of 4 or cases of beer, im not a wine drinker persay so i cannot comment.

All drink promotions were banned in Sturgeonland long ago.
No happy hours, no twofers in the shops, all to extend the lives of those who are already better off dead for a few weeks or months.

Morrisons and Aldi in Berwick will be clearing space for more stacks of happiness while those of us further north will just sigh and wait for the next election when we can install some less zealous health freaks than the present rabble.
As a silver lining, there was chat about repealing the law if the desired effects weren't forthcoming.
I'm quite happy to say that regardless of reality, the liars and cheats who pretend to govern us will fiddle the figures and never allow that to happen.

Sherbet is not rhyming slang. It is a NE (and obviously Scottish) term for a drink, usually beer.
