Pulling the bridle causes the horse pain, damaging its teeth & mouth. The horse might now need 'trust' training. The man deserved whipping.

they were not fox hunting mikey, that would be illegal.

If that is to me mikey, I stand by what I said.
And as Tambo said correctly, "No Hounds, No Foxes"
This is exactly what you non hoity-toitys would do if someone was grabbing on to your horse, dog or child. The protective instinct would kick in. But hey let’s not be fair about the situation or we can’t have a go at the toff.

Well said Prudie.

you can't reason with mikey, he's thinking only of foxy, when there is no evidence that they even were hunting, didn't see a hound for a start and it's not illegal to go riding dressed up like a ploughmans lunch.
The pickle would make a mess of your habit.
Horse people or non horse people, folk need to learn how to behave in a civilised society.

The saboteur is clearly a knob but Petunia astride her mount needs reining in too.
Had I been in that position, I would have lashed out too.
Does one have to be " a toff" to ride ?
No.
That's what all non-riding left-wingers think – absolutely yes

No,, but those of us who do are frequently assumed to be.
Tambo - It seems that neither party emerges with the moral high ground here.

The man should not have grabbed at the bridle, the woman should not have hit him.

People get carried away, and both behaved badly.
I don't know whether the woman was a toff or whether the man had showered this morning, or not as hinted at in the OP - as I said , ugly scenes to watch.
I don't blame her for swiping the idiot. I'd have swiped him too.
I believe you Naomi .
No reason why you shouldn't, anneasquith. Well done.
a-h //The man should not have grabbed at the bridle, the woman should not have hit him. //

I'd say the order is important. If she'd have hit him first that would have clearly been wrong.

To hit him only after he grabbed the bridle seems reasonable.
Now, now you horse riders, I bet mikey regularly rides the donkeys, when he attends the Labour Conference at Blackpool.
Anything to add on the topic?
