Oui!
So all the British ex pats should come back here? They're not in any danger are they? People move country for various reasons and the OP made a rather sweeping statement.
I'm telling Andy on you.

Please see aware that racism on AB will NOT be tolerated. You're entitled to your opinion, but please bare in mind that questions like this are treading a very fine line.
Well said Ed !
Bear in mind, not to be bare in mind. :))
No, I'm perfectly happy with economic migrants thanks. If people work hard, pay their taxes, obey the law etc, I don't tbh care if they come from Mars.
I think the Ed is asking everyone to bear in mind not to bare their mind on this subject.
My wife is foreign

How bizarre.
These are not my words, they are the words of the French president.
Togo - oops, yes 'bear', not 'bare'. Many thanks!
Sorry Ed. Mr Naughty crept up on me and I could not resist. :))
There are different circumstances. British ex pats have no need to come back here and more than foreigners legally here in the UK must necessarily go back. They will have the permission and blessing of the country they have opted to live in, rather than be on a time limited entry or here purely because they used to need refuge. It's a different situation and a different agreement.

Economic migrants still expand the population, which we don't need, and if they have a job here then a native here is on welfare paid for by our taxes as a consequence; which is also not a good thing. Individual circumstances must be considered when inviting someone to stay permanently. Working hard, paying taxes, obeying the law, are minimum standards for stopping, not reasons to be here.
