Can someone explain to me how, without Customs Posts or Passport Controls, you can have a
"soft" border between Ireland(in the EU) and Northern Ireland(outside the EU)? Would this not require both parties to accept free movement of people and membership of the customs union?
Many politicians state a "soft border" as their objective but none explain how.
TTT, I also wonder how you equate your hatred for the EU and all it stands for with your boasting about owning a German car? Surely you should put your money where your mouth is and by a 100% British built car?
"Many politicians state a "soft border" as their objective but none explain how"
There's a very good reason for that, Rich, they haven't got the first clue what they're trying to do and so ramble on trying to look competent and masterful but are merely spinning their wheels until the whole misbegotten shambles is seen for what it is and abandoned.
I have never "boasted" about any of my vehicles, my BMW is 14 years old not something really boast worthy anyway. If it helps I also have a Lexus similarly old. It has emerged that I own products from non UK manufacturers. That is the nature of world trade we can all buy goods from anywhere. I have often stated that I agreed with the common market. A trading bloc of cooperation and I still do. I object to being controlled by a corrupt un elected foreign power who want to micro manage every aspect of my life. I am shocked that there is anyone in the UK that does not object.
David Davies has been forced to clarify his remarks on the Irish border deal not being 'legally enforceable'

Yet another 'mistake' by a master of the art. Remember when he repeatedly insisted that the full analysis of 57 aspects of Brexit had been made, only to be forced to admit he had lied and that the possibilities had not even been discussed?
TTT, how many household goods are made in the UK? Not many, do people honestly think we will go down the pan when & if we leave? biggest scam going, they are tying to frighten the UK with their crp
TTT you have repeatedly spoken of your dislike of forieners and at one time said that every foreign goods vehicle should be charged £1000 just to enter the UK. Hardly in keeping with your contention ,
'That is the nature of world trade,we can all buy goods from everywhere'
You also previously expressed support for the idea that anyone who was not rich enough to own at least 2 cars should be priced off the road and forced to use public transport.
Not only would I like to see a hard border but I would like Trump to build the wall. Whether it's paid for by the Mexicans or the Irish doesn't really matter.

'That is the nature of world trade,we can all buy goods from everywhere'" - well I would have said that in response to another point in the discussion, you take it out of context.
"You also previously expressed support for the idea that anyone who was not rich enough to own at least 2 cars should be priced off the road and forced to use public transport. " - yes once again out of context, you may also have noted and yet strangely omitted that I count myself too poor to own private personal transport and actually use my own position as evidence in those posts. This is more of a pragmatic social economic statement based on current conditions. Start another thread and we can discuss again.
eddie: "You also previously expressed support for the idea that anyone who was not rich enough to own at least 2 cars should be priced off the road and forced to use public transport" - show me where I said that? what I said was that if the masses can afford to own personal private transport then motoring is too cheap.
