I agree..Saudi Arabia is a backward country and until they allow women their freedom as WE do in the Uk, the better it will be for Western culture.

no one said women were perfect, and like men who get bladdered on boys night out, the freedom is there for all to do it, if they so wish. not nice but been there and done that...

emmie......but that is my point.....that wouldn't happen in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi's in the main, had respect for their women and in the main got respect in return. Respect for women has been mentioned in another thread but unfortunately in the UK and probably other Western countries,respect seems to be a dying custom and not only to women.

Eddie - There are places where women can meet and socialise. Usually the shopping malls and they can leave the house without a male family member with them. In fact there is one shopping mall where there is a women only floor where they can walk around in normal dress. You obviously haven't been there for a long time.

i don;t recall much respect for women when i was growing up, they were work horses to be honest, do all the work around the house, cook, clean, etc and often as not, as in my mum's, gran's case went to work too.

You can do all the above and be respected........many were......some weren't.

I agree with SJ.....the Saudi women did indeed have a social life, mainly behind walls, but if you traveled Saudia, within 30 mins of the flight taking off, a covered up women would make for the toilets and ten minutes late, an attractive woman would reappear dressed in smart Western clothes.
Saudi women are not that hard done by.

Some do and some don't sqad. What always impresses me is their make up - absolutely stunning. I guess when you are only showing your face, you have to make the most of it.
