Eccles , ownership of handguns in the UK has been banned since 1997.

Only shotguns and rifles can legally be owned in the UK now. There are exceptions for antique guns, long barrel hand guns with a barrel over 30" , which are classed as rifles ,and black powder muzzle loaders .
The law changed after the Dunblane shooting.

Bazillie, I'd rather not go into details.

Eddie, I'll suggest my husband contacts the local firearms officer and let's him know. He only inspected our property ran a character check and granted licences, no doubt he will value your input.

// The UK banned handguns in 1997, but citizens are still able to own and shoot some shotguns and rifles with a license. Shotguns and rifles may be licensed by applying for a certificate through the local police force, according to the government's guide on gun-licensing law.//
