^^ Sorry. Answer in reply to question about whether or not EDDIE was correct.
The last church service I attended in England (about 3 years ago) was a 'Sung Eucharist' in St Lawrence's church in Stroud, and the pews have been removed and replaced by chairs in a circle, so instead of staring ahead and looking at the backs of heads, everyone could look at one another, though he altar was still a focus for the service itself. I liked the arrangement very much, and it was nothing at all to do with Muslims, there were none present, though I guess they would have been welcome.
There is nothing particularly 'religious' about pews or seating arrangements.
Precisely, Khandro. We've had a few removed so that there is a space for children to play, tea to be served, meetings held etc., etc..
Mikey @ 15:19 \\This seems like a splendid idea to me.....its all about building bridges within our communities. If every Church did this, then maybe Britain wouldn't be full of so much hatred as it is.//

what like this.

No webbo. Nothing whatsoever like that.
Webbo.........what have those disgraceful events in Egypt got to do with inviting everybody to use a church in Oldham ?....There is no analogy between the two events whatsoever.
Same God, wildly different ideas of who he is and what our relationship with him is.
Hence a lot of the difficulty.
Mikey, A) It's not an anology
B) It's not meant to be
C) If you really can't see the connection between those two stories there's something very wrong with you.
Old Git, you really are a stupid man. Can anyone argue with that?

'The re-theologizing of Christmas is based on the false premise that the Jesus of the Bible is the Jesus (Isa) of the Koran. This religious fusion, sometimes referred to as "Chrislam," is gaining ground in a West that has become biblically illiterate.
A school in Lüneburg postponed a Christmas party after a Muslim student complained that the singing of Christmas carols during school was incompatible with Islam. Alexander Gauland, the leader of the anti-immigration Alternative for Germany (AfD), said the school's action was "an unbearable, involuntary submission to Islam" and amounted to a "cowardly injustice" toward non-Muslim children.'

Said they are taking over like I have been banging on about for years
When is this country going to have the balls to put a stop to this erosion of a democratic Great Brittian and the UK

I doubt it Baths, you do say that a lot lately.

Happy memories of the Church for you then , it sounds a very welcoming place.

So many are closing down due to lack of congregation, good to see a local Church thriving.
I know Mamya,...I'm a bit paranoid ;)
My son was christened there in 1975
