I was watching the news the other evening, and the fact came out that the new worlds darts champion a man, gets in the region of 500k for his win, whilst the equivalent women get 12k, not exactly fair is it.

If sponsors and advertisers, who fund the tournaments and prize money, are paying on the basis of coverage, and therefore bang for their buck, then it is fair, because the women's game attracts a fraction of the interest of the men's game.

the women's game could be just as watchable, i don't know the figures to comment properly, but i am aware that the men's game is widely watched. But the pay difference is still astronomical.

i've never understood why if a woman can do the same job as man to the same standard as the man why she shouldn't get the same pay as him

if an employee were born one gender but self-identified as another, and was legally re-assigned, would their employer adjust their pay to suit?

Women should have the same rate of pay as their male colleagues but that doesn't mean they will be paid the same.
For example I am the same grade as a male colleague whom I sit next too but I get paid significantly more because I have had better yearly reports than he has, but he has had the same opportunities as I have had.
That is what equality is about.

its obvious though that many of these companies don't value their women employees as much as the men.
Now that figures are to be published one will be able to see and more importantly so will the staff,
who is being paid the most.
