Morrissey And 'no Go' Areas Of Europe.

On a recent thread, I pasted in a quote by him stating how within Europe there are places which for non-Muslims are "No go areas" (It was only one among a collection of quotes) I actually apart from vaguely having heard the name, knew nothing at all about the man, but have now rectified that;

Without any evidence to the contrary, his assertion has been dismissed on that thread by more than one person, seemingly because he is who he is !?
To support what he said, may I ask if any woman, wearing normal western clothing with uncovered hair (let alone wearing any form of make-up) would be happy to walk through the suburb of say, Paris-Seine-Saint Denis in the daytime, let alone at night, and could an orthodox Jewish man wearing his required kippah - the small skull cap worn by Jews to fulfil the requirements that the head be covered, and is worn by men in Orthodox communities- enter certain areas of some European cities, Berlin and Cologne for example, and was the statement wrong?

Little he says is either truthful, or motivated by anything other than a desire to be noticed.

He lives in Los Angles - I doubt his knowledge of European streets is any greater than mine.

Hard to answer your second part as it's fair few decades since I was in Paris, so I would gauge it on the current state of play - if things are being left unchecked then that is wholly wrong.

It's hard to comment on what you'd do in a City you don't live in - having said that my Daughter has recently lived and worked in Prague and Hamburg and didn't have any specific problems.

I don't particular dislike Morrissey the man ,but his ways of commenting such as mocking dead politicians and ridiculing the Queen sort of shock jock tactics leave me cold.

I don't know all of the areas you mention, but I do know both Berlin and Koln very well, and no there isn't an area in either of those cities that makes me feel particularly vulnerable as a Western woman, and yes I do have cause to go to some of the areas you will have in mind to visit my Turkish friends. One thing I find interesting that you mention is that you feel a man wearing a kippah would be vulnerable to Muslims, that might be true, however it would definitely be true if he were to go to Leipzig or Dresden, except he'd be in danger from the lovely bunch of homegrown Nazis that those cities are jam packed full of, so intolerance is not merely a problem which applies to Muslims, we have our own horrors which we also need to address.

I actually like Morrissey. The Smiths are great. Since he went solo Moz has dabbled in far right ideas on songs such as ‘National Front Disco’ and ‘Bengali in Platforms’.

I do not know of Patis, Berlin or Cologne, but in the past people have asserted that there are no-go areas in the UK. I remember a thread on AB a while ago on which someone said the Glodwick area of Oldham was a no-go for non-muslims. I used to live near there, and it isn’t a no-go area. I used to go through it day or night on foot and never had any problems, quite the reverse.
I hear people say the same thing about the town I now live in. And to be honest, people may have a genuine fear, but it is not based on fact.

What's this, Khandro? Someone famous who you've never heard of says something you agree with, so they're wheeled out as some sort of authority. He isn't an authority, on this or almost anything else.

You perhaps ought to check his views on other topics before showing too much admiration. For example, in the same Wikipedia article, much further down: 'When asked in a 2017 interview with Der Spiegel if he would hypothetically push a button that would kill Trump, [Morrissey] said: "I would, for the safety of the human race. It's nothing to do with my personal opinion of his face or his life or his family, but in the interest of the human race I would, yes."'
