This news is a terrible blow for commuters, but from a man of such high principles I can see he had no choice;

Literally had no idea that newspapers were sold on trains. The only time I can ever remember seeing papers on trains (being given away for free) is on the Gatwick and Heathrow Express.
If the reason is that the Mail doesn't reflect the corporate identity of Virgin Trains, well - that's their moral prerogative.
If the sales don't justify them carrying the title then that's their financial prerogative.
Why the Mail spokesperson called it 'disgraceful' is baffling. It would be disgraceful if Virgin lobbied to have the paper banned from all mainline stations, WH Smiths, and other train lines, but that's not happening.

If the driving reason was due to lack of sales, then just leave the reason at that - what they've done is to give mealy-mouthed virtue signalling excuses to further justify their position, and that is pathetic.
I've never been a big newspaper buyer, but I do know the Daily Mail can be a little pernicious, but so what? If its readers don't mind, what the hell has it got to do with anybody else, particularly those who take a superior looking down the nose stance at the paper and its readers.
And for people that are 'offended' by the Daily Mail, well that is bedwettingly pathetic. I know its a cliche (but cliches are cliches for a reason) nobody has a right not be offended and offense is only ever taken not given.
