Trump seems to like blaming Obama for anything. I don't like Trump but he really should have the guts to open his country's new Embassy.

Bazile,
No the Americans did not buy it, so Trump is wrong that it went for ‘peanuts’.
// The current embassy was always an oddity in the US diplomatic set-up because of the lease arrangement with the Duke of Westminster - virtually every other major mission is owned outright by the US.
The Duke reportedly said he would only sell if the US government returned his family's land, confiscated during the American War of Independence.
His property company the Grosvenor Group refused to comment on the move. //

Just a few facts.
The decision to move the embassy was indeed taken, with very good reason, by the administration of George W Bush. The lease, which will last until 2953, was subsequently sold to the Qataris for £315 Million. This is a lot less than the £500 Million that it was valued at by property experts. The "negotiations" and resulting contract was drawn up by Obama's administration. I wonder if he would have sold it to the Israelis at such a knock down price. Obama insisted that the move would not cost the Americans a penny because the sale of this lease and other buildings would cover the £750 Million costs of the new Embassy which in fact turned out to be £900 Million.
