Because it's not 'the truth', it's his racist uninformed offensive opinion, and as the President he should know better than to put his mouth in gear before engaging his brain.

He does it with his Twitter account all the time.

The fundamental fact that Mr Trump has singularly failed to grasp is that his is not in Trump Tower any more where everyone is his employee and they agree with everything he says.

He is the President in the White House, and everything he writes and says is noted and up for comment, and the freedoms to run off at the mouth and keyboard are now denied to him because of his office and his responsibilities.

It is doubtful if he is capable of grasping such a simple concept, because his history before his election shows him to be a boorish ignorant racist thug, and nothing so far seems to have caused him to adjust his personality defects in line with his new role.

Actually it is not the truth, because the truth must be a fact, and not an opinion, which is what this nonsense is.

If President Trump says that Angelina Jolie is beautiful, that is an opinion, it is not a fact, because anyone else can say she is not beautiful, and also be correct, in their view.

So if President Trump wants to express boorish racist opinions on countries he has probably never even seen, than that is what they are - opinions, they are not facts, so what he has said, if he has said it, are opinions, they are not the truth.

I have no experience of such places - which is why I tend not to venture an opinion on them, of any kind, and if I was President, I would keep such opinions to myself, since I would be accused correctly if being ignorant and rude.

I notice you have switched the argument from your point that the President is 'speaking the truth' to whether or not his opinion is correct.

It may be, but it is still an opinion, and an opinion is not the truth.
