With a concentration on guns, posts on this thread seem to be way wide of the mark, so to speak, because similar classifications are specified for an assortment of reasons. The UK is classified as Level 2 not because of the threat of gun crime but because of the threat of terrorist attacks whereas visitors to Zimbabwe, for example, are warned of civil unrest. The UK’s listing has nothing to do with gun crime.
