Some might say 'barking mad'.

I however would cut her some slack as she is already burdened with a couple of puppies.

They pointed out at least half of serving dog handlers had not taken the ‘elite’ test, so the force could not claim it was necessary for the role

Collogues ?

Are you in Officer Crabtree mode :-)
if you care to read the whole piece it goes on to explain not everyone takes this test, that includes men. As i copied and pasted the item.

That may be so, but if one volunteers to take the test, then one either succeeds and passes or fails, end of.
so how many men have failed to lob the dog up the hill and failed, i bet loads. admittedly they haven't got compo but that was down to the police themselves.

///but if one volunteers to take the test///

Can't see anywhere it says she volunteered to take the Test
When I joined the force policewomen had their own department and did jobs appropriate to their sex.PC has a lot to answer for.
Further dilution of our security. First the Armed forces now the Police.

If you are too weak to do the job then that is it, male female or anywhere in between. Compo should not have been given, that is tax payers money being wasted.

And as an aside, if she felt humiliated by that then she does not have the constitution to be in the Police Sevice at all given the level of abuse that can be thrown at them. Or will we see further claims for compo from here when some lout 'humiliates' her?
What jobs are appropriate to their sex exactly, Danny?

A man could struggle with a flipping great do on his back just as much as a woman.

I have mixed feelings about this case but with only press reports to go on I am not going to draw judgement.
The Judges said
The claimant showed courage in bringing the case. It is unfortunate that [the force] sought in their defence to deflect attention from the indirect discrimination, blaming her for a lack of fitness or confidence

Eccles, they did jobs like interviewing sex offence victims, dealt with female shoplifters etc and did not work nights.
