Is The Nhs Taking Political Correctness Two Steps Too Far?
The trans trap: Women who identify as men are NOT offered routine NHS breast cancer screening... but men who identify as women WILL get cervical smear tests – even though they don’t have a cervix.
Conservative MP David Davies, who has campaigned against Government plans to let people legally ‘self-identify’ their own gender, said: ‘This NHS effort to be politically correct is putting the lives of women who claim to be men at risk.’

What an utterly ridiculous situation – and all in an effort to avoid causing offence. Barmy!

Anyway the guy had a problem with his Penis & he marched in to reception saying, can I get this looked at & the receptionist said " that's not a foot" & the guy replied " don't argue about 2 inches I'm in pain".

The thing that annoys me is that now, there are people who will repeat this story without knowing the facts...along the lines of, “Did you know that blokes can call themselves women and demand a smear tests from the NHS! Bleedin’ ridiculous.”
Now that the story is out there, it will become ‘fact’ forever.

From The NHS Booklet.
//Trans woman
If you are a trans woman aged 25 to 64 you won’t need to be screened as you don’t have a cervix.
Registered with a GP as female
If you are registered with a GP as female, you will be routinely invited for cervical screening unless your GP has already told us you’re not eligible//
Just because the booklet states "If you are a trans woman aged 25 to 64 you won’t need to be screened". It does not mean that you wont be "invited" if you have registered with a GP as a "woman".
Note the line."you will be routinely invited for cervical screening" unless your GP has told us!

I’ve read it very carefully.
This is where I suspect the misunderstanding arises from...if a GP has a record of a trans woman as female, the NHS systems will automatically (in error) generate an invitation for cervical smear tests.
The tests will obviously not be carried out, because trans women don’t have cervices (I think that might be the correct plural).
What the booklet outlines is that these auto-generated invitations will continue until the GP updates the NHS data records. It doesn’t mean that a smear test will actually be carried out.

You’ve just repeated what I’ve said.
This is the crux of the matter - the invitations to have a smear test are based on the GP record. All the patient needs to do is get a flag attached the record, and that’s it.
The article makes it look as if the NHS is offering smear tests for trans women. It’s not. It’s simply a quirk of the registration process. In fact, the likelihood is that this situation will never arise, because any competent GP will immediately ensure that the patient records are amended at the appropriate time (eg. when the patient registers).

Can you please explain what you mean when you wrote:
“Men who identify as as women WILL get cervical smear tests - even though they don’t have a cervix.”
Did you simply take that from the Daily Mail article?
This is what I meant about getting the source information, because we both know that this is absolutely not true.
