Whilst there is no doubt that money will be a lot to those poor people, it does leave a very uncomfortable feeling reading that.

Just to give this a bit of perspective:
‘The median net hourly wage of the total sample is 450 Rwandan francs‘ this is around 40p. A 12 hour shift would mean the average median wage was therefore £4.80.

I doubt, despite the DM headline that anyone was ‘forced’ to work. I do, however, suspect that the opportunity to earn 7 Times the national average was rather a temptation.

If the wage is at the normal rate for the area, or greater, then I see no issue. One doesn't pay high wage/high cost of living rates in a a low wage/low cost of living area.

The DM and all the hand wringers should be looking at wage costs in the country the filming takes place.

From what Zac wrote those extras have in effect been paid vastly more than I have on my paid extra jobs.

Why do you think so many call centres are located in the Indian subcontinent? Because a tenth of the wages a British worker would want is a fortune to them.

You can always tell when it's one of those calls from the Indian sub continent by the time gap from when answering the phone to someone on the other end actually speaking. If I answer the phone and theres more than a 2 second gap I hang up.
