Is It Now Time For Ukip To Call It A Day?
http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/uk -politi cs-4276 7657
I don't think there's any point in the party existing, apart from giving us a laugh.
Without looking at their website, can anyone name five of their policies?

This racist woman, is not Bolton's wife....he already has one of those. He has chosen to liaise with someone who has spouted offensive racist rubbish.
In the first couple of days, when he and her were found out, he readily admitted that he had made mistake, and would be breaking off the liaison with her.
All very good, and sensible on his part.
But a couple of days later, he was seen dining with her, and has since rowed back on his pledge.
Nothing would surprise me less that an UKIP big-wig having a racist relative, even a wife. But the Party is now deserting him in droves and the incident looks like its going to fester on for a while yet.
So, instead of trying to convince the public that UKIP still has some kind of point, post Referendum, he and the Party are having to crisis manage this Situation.
A spectacular own goal, and entirely avoidable,

Sadly enough I have actually heard of most of those (!)
Peter Whittle was the party's first openly gay London spokes person. Wasn't the aptly named Mr Hookem one of the protagonists in the punch up in Strasbourg?
And Mr Kurten, who seems like the most sensible of the above, with a name like that he makes his own headline for when he eventually resigns as leader.

/// However, if he is in a relationship deeply enough to be married, ///
Oh come off it Andy, how do you know how much he loves his girlfriend? Perhaps enough to marry her tomorrow if he wasn't already married, it happens you know.
/// then it would be reasonable to assume that basics like attitudes to black people would have been discussed some time ago, and agreed ///
You really think that attitudes towards black people are basic discussions between two lovers, did you ask 'the present Mrs Hughes' what her feelings were towards black people, as you lovingly hugged and caressed her?
And if they had happened to be opposite to yours, would you have soon been looking for another Mrs Hughes?

I think it reasonable to assume that this couple are in the early stages of their relationship, and maybe had not got into any serious discussions of viewpoints on important issues - it may be that their limited tile together was spent doing other things, we don't know, so I am making an assumption, which may be right or wrong.

I think that fundamental attitudes are ones that come up naturally in the course of getting to know someone. You are a married man - you know that as well as I do.
In the six years between meeting and marrying the present Mrs Hughes, I can't ever recall me sitting her down and enjoying a Twenty Questions session about attitudes to racism - but I can state with complete and certain knowledge that I do know her views and opinions about people of other races - as I do on her views about Stoke City Football Club - these things come up in conversation over time - if you have time that is - and as I said, you know that as well as I do.
// And if they had happened to be opposite to yours, would you have soon been looking for another Mrs Hughes? //
I wasn't 'looking for a Mrs Hughes' - but had I found that she had views that I could not accept, on any important subject - then we would not have progressed past our friendship into a relationship, and then into marriage.
To sum up - I expect no unpleasant surprises by this stage - had I been seeing Mrs Hughes in secret for a few months, then I could have done so - that is the difference.

To say I am astonished is the understatement of the year - and it's only Jan 23rd! I can't recall discussing Stoke City Football Club with Mrs NJ and we've been together a good bit more that six years! :-) :-) :-)

You have stated in the past, the fact that Mrs Hughes is a strict follower of the Roman Catholic faith, whereas you yourself are a devout atheist.
There is a vast differential there between the two of you, but it seem that, that did not come between the two of you, so why is it is it that just one's attitude towards different races, could separate the two of you?

/// AOG....do you support Jo Marney's racist views or not ? ///
That is not under discussion, but I support her right to say them if she so wishes, but must be prepared to face any punishment if she has broken any laws of the land. Also the fact that her boyfriend should not be equally condemned for what a separate individual has been prepared to say.

AOG....wrong....Ms Marney's view are at the heart of this thread, along with Bolton's relationship with her.
Its his judgement about the situation that is at the centre of this debate. His own NEC and most of his senior colleagues have condemned his actions. He is now looking shifty and foolish and he could end his predicament immediately, just like all the other UKIP Leaders that have been found wanting.
But instead he struggles on.
So, today the media and us on here are discussing him, rather than his Partys views and policies.
I contend that if this had been a Labour Leader, that had a relationship with a racist, you, and all the other people that refuse to condemn him would be spitting feathers by now.
To be fair to lots of right-wingers on here, there is widespread condemnation of his lack of judgement.

AOG - // You have stated in the past, the fact that Mrs Hughes is a strict follower of the Roman Catholic faith, whereas you yourself are a devout atheist. //
I have never said that Mrs Hughes is a 'strict follower of the Roman Catholic faith' - probably because she isn't.
Similarly, I have never referred to myself as a 'devout atheist' because that means to be devoted to a cause, and I am not devoted to an absence of a belief system.
//There is a vast differential there between the two of you, but it seem that, that did not come between the two of you, so why is it is it that just one's attitude towards different races, could separate the two of you? //
The phrase 'vast differential' is yours not mine.
Clearly the difference in belief bothers neither of us to the extend that you appear to think it should.
A difference in racial attitudes is not remotely comparable, so I'm not going to compare them.
