My father was a Knight of St Columba and he wouldn't, indeed couldn't have bashed anyone other than an opponent in War.
I think there may be the beginning of a witch-hunt against them, which is daft. They are basically just 'boys clubs' (yes, I know there are Ladies branches) and they do a lot of good. I have an uneasy feeling, however, that they may be targeted as a digression from more unsavoury groupings. Currently, I know no masons, but a recently- widowed friend of ours is thinking of rejoining his old lodge and I'm a bit cautious for him as I honestly think they may be 'picked on' in the future.
Jordan, who would " pick on" your friend ?
Prudie has it spot on...... x
You know if you can't give a leg up to a friend, relative or fellow club member then you wouldn't be much of a friend, relative or club member.

It is something that will always happen and no amount of moaning about it will change it.

Just think how many big time entrepreneurs have had family come in. Often, especially nowadays I've noticed, they don't come in at the top until they have done a bit of time 'down with the workers'. Number one son (or number two son, whatever) used to sail into the office spout of changes just to hear their own voice and cock things up royally so things have changed a bit.

The day we get to run our own companies or get to be in charge will be the day we can buck the trend and not give preferential treatment to our mates.

In fact the amount of family in small and independent businesses is probably far higher than corporate.
How can you discriminate against members of a society if you don't know they belong to it?
^My thoughts exactly.
